Guest guest
I figured you’d be clear, too, but it feels good to confirm it, doesn’t it? Congrats! Weren’t you testing his son, too? Re: Making Some Headway With Hubby I was going to check the gatorade bottle for the ingredients in the AM, but we're out. When we get more, I'll check to see exactly what it is. I did see he had bought two 6 packs of Propel. By the way, I got the results of my bloodwork, and I'm clear. I knew I would be; I wasn't worried about it, but he was, so I did it. Guest guest
I’m sure he’ll be fine too. Just checking if he’d done it yet. It’s the peace of mind thing. I think that will help hubby a lot to know he didn’t “give it to either of you” Re: FEM His son goes next week for his blood work. I'm sure he'll be fine too. Guest guest
How’d the colonoscopy go? I don’t know if you’re actually worrying or using the word “worry” when you mean concern, but if you’re actually worrying, give it up. It won’t change a thing and will only make you sick. Keep educating yourself and take it one day at a time. Will the gastro that did the colonoscopy be the hep doc? You know that hubby is concerned too, or he wouldn’t have been asking you any questions about what you’ve learned. He just doesn’t want to show you. The only thing you can do right now is maybe push the GP for the referral and other than you just have to wait. The waiting right now is the hard part. We’ve all been through it. Wait to see the specialist, wait for the biopsy, wait for insurance approval to start tx, etc. Hugs, Re: FW: YOU'VE GOT MAIL - off topic , that was really nice. We still haven't gotten any word from the Dr. about my hubby's appt with the specialist. I keep worrying and wondering when we'll find out about it, but I don't dare ask any questions. He goes tomorrow for his colonoscopy. He seems not to be worrying about any of it. As much as I'm worrying, you'd think I am the one who was diagnosed! Hope you all have a great day! Guest guest
, I hope you're feeling better today. Did you have the flu? The stomac flu here's been pretty bad. The colonoscopy went fine. They removed one small polyp, say he has a mild case of diverticulitis, and to repeat the test in 5 years. You're right, it's the waiting and not knowing anything that's so hard. I think once we know when his appointment is, and who it's with, it will be better. At least then, I'll feel as if we're moving forward and not living in suspended animation. I don't know what's taking so long for the GP to make the referral. Even if it's 6 months from now, I thought he would have gotten back to us on the date by now. I did as Del suggested and went online to check our insurance. Looks like all the Hep C drugs would require prior authorization, and will probably require a higher co-pay, but at least they are listed. We've had the same inurance for about 10 years now, and they have been pretty easy to work with. So I guess that's in our favor. Guest guest
My stomach symptoms are better today, but my URI is the same. My allergist told me Thursday when she wouldn’t give me my allergy shot for wheezing to call first of the week for antibiotics if I wasn’t better. Call the GP’s office & talk to whoever handles the referrals and ask the status. I think most insurance companies have a special pharmacy division for our type of drugs and they run the scripts thru there & they ship them to you once a month in special iced packs. I had mine shipped to my office because it had to be signed for. Mine started out 100% covered, but we changed plans half way thru & I ended up having a 10% co-pay for the shots & $10/month for the generic riba. It IS usually a pre-auth RX. Guest guest
FEM My insurance required a pre-authorization too...I think it is pretty standard. But, it is generally given once it is proven that the person has the disease. My first time to fill the prescription I got to pick it up at the pharmacy by the Hepatologist office which was in late 2007. Then in 2008 the insurance company changed their policy and I had to start getting it from their mail order speciality pharmacy that is in another state. I was pretty nervous about this whole procedure. But it worked out pretty well. In fact, it is actually easier than driving 20 miles away to get it. Also, they gave me a three month supply! So I don't have to worry about it but one more time if I get to do the 24 weeks tx like we hope. It also saves me a few bucks this way too. Guest guest
Thanks. I’m going to take it as easy as I can, but they’ve already warned me that my chair (in-box) is full! Just tell hubby that it’s a good idea to have an extra set of ears with you at the doc because the first visit can be overwhelming with info. Tell him you’ll be quiet & just take notes if that’s what he wants. Re: Shoulder , glad your surgery's over, and to see you up and about so soon. You have the most positive attitude of anyone I've ever met! Make sure to take it easy when you go back to work. And by the way, my husband's first appointment with the specialist is March 14th. He hasn't said a word to me about it, I only know because he left the envelope from the dr's office laying out on the desk, and I peaked in! I want to go with him, but I won't say anything about it til the day before. Fem
Guest guest
That’s great you’ve got an in with the nurse now. That will help with your questions and concerns a lot. With the hep & the tx, we do a lot of ruling things out, just to be safe. Re: What are AFP Levels Vickie, Thanks for the response. I called the doctor's office, and introduced myself to the nurse who works with the GI and his PA. She was really nice, and told me I could call to talk anytime I had concerns or questions. She told me the same thing you just said. She got his chart out, and said his AFP levels were slightly elevated, which could be from the hep. She said they wanted to do a CAT scan to make sure they haven't missed anything with the ultrasound and other tests they've already done. Guest guest
And He will. We find strength during tx we never knew we had – and that applies to caregivers, too. Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress.... But then I repeat myself. -Mark Twain Re: Question About Iron I keep praying to God to give me strength while he is on tx. Guest guest
You can try to have the conversation and if he ends it, so be it, you tried. You can try again later. His body will tell him he can’t keep up the pace, and you can try again. Print the emails about the anti-depressants and leave them around for him to see, especially the ones about strong people thinking they don’t need them, then realizing after they start that the chemical imbalance caused by the meds is too strong to fight alone. Maybe he’ll start later, many men have. Don’t beat your self about it, FEM. You can only do what you can do. Try to have the conversations, but if he won’t participate, let it go until later. I understand your concerns and you have every right to them, but trust in God, and lean on Him and us. Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress.... But then I repeat myself. -Mark Twain Re: Question About Iron He pushes himself all the time. We have a business, and he does all of the manual labor, in addition to going out and doing all of the estimates. He's been sick for over a week now with a bad cold and sinus infection, but it hasn't stopped him. He's pushed himself all week, coming home in the evening drained. I don't think he's even thought about tx keeping him from doing everything he does now. I'm worried about him pushing himself too much. Also, I am concerned about how it will be once he's on the ribavirin...... I do the office work; working together like we do, sometimes is not easy. He has very little patience with me most of the time, and will fly off the handle very easily (and it's not pretty), so how's the ribavirin going to affect this? I would like to be able to sit down with him before he starts treatment to discuss all of this with him. Like the fact that he has a lot of help in the summer, but come fall, he'll be back to only 1 other helper. Maybe he should consider hiring someone he can depend on to carry most of his load. He's never done this, cause he feels he's the only one who can do it right. He's not going to be able to do it all, and I don't think he realizes that. But as per hubby, discussion about any thing to do with this is TABOO! I just feel really lost right now. I love him very much, and I want him to start treatment as soon as possible so he can get the most out of it. But, I don't want him to go into it blindly, which I feel is how it is right now. I feel like if we discuss these things before hand, knowing there's a possibility for certain things to happen, we can make a plan on how to handle each situation. Then, when and if those situations arise, it will be easier to deal with them. Just keep me in your prayers. FEM
