Guest guest
Dorothy, It really seems that you have enough medical info/disorders that you would qualify - however, SS often does not agree as a lot of us know. Hopefully, once they take in all that you have been through, you'll be approved. I finally saw my SS Medical Exam report after my reward and that doctor had mentioned depressive disorder (I cried during my exam...) My attorney never tried to use "depression" as a grounds for my disability but on my award letter, it has "Depressive Disorder" listed as the first reason that I was found to be disabled - before hep-c. Go figure. Hopefully, your ss doctor will be a good one - not just a numbers cruncher - you never know how much their exam will figure into the final calculation. Good luck!!! Chris He didn't even have to go to court, SS called him less than a month after his SS doc visit and told him that he was approved. Imho, there is NO logical reason that you won't win, think positive! Thanks for the info. I know it¢ll be a breeze. I guess I¢m just worried that I won¢t win. Guest guest
It's pretty cut and dried Dorothy, my husband recently went through it. You'll wonder what you worried about, simce it's over nearly before it begins.. I think he heard from SS less than a month after that doctor visit. Go get 'em, you sure deserve it! Hugs, Sheena -- I am scheduled for my medical exam by the social security doctor on Monday. I¢m nervous and was hoping someone who¢s lived through it can give me a couple of tips. I am basing my claim on rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral neuropathy and I¢m throwing in HCV, cryoglobulenemia, herniated discs, Reynaud¢s and glaucoma for good measure. If I don¢t get it on this first go-round, I don¢t know if I can afford to support myself for the length of time it will take for an appeal so it¢s now or never! Guest guest
You really shouldn't worry too much about it - I don't see how they can deny you - you've tried to treat and have done everything that you could to beat this disease - they'll take that into consideration - or they should! Plus, your other medical stuff would seem to be grounds for disability just on their own. You'll do fine. Tears never hurt in a situation like that - they certainly helped me in that spot, little known to me at the time, lol... Take care, Chris Well, I cry very easily – there’s a very good chance that I’ll cry at the exam! Guest guest
If I lose, I don’t know what I’ll do, Jackie. I have been living on my retirement funds for close to a year and I can’t continue to do that. For one thing, there isn’t that much left and I would hope that I could have something left since I’m 56 and could live another 25 or 30 years. If I lose, I’ll discuss it with the attorney. If I can do some temp work while I’m appealing, I may be able to do it. On the other hand, I’m not sure that I could even hold down a job…..some days I probably could and many days, I can’t. As it is, if I DO win, it’ll be tough living on disability since it will only cover my basic expenses. I’m assuming that I’m going to get the amount that is quoted in the statement they send each year where it says……If you were to become disabled now, you would get…….I’d like to think that I might get more, but I doubt it. Hopefully, I’ll get it without having to appeal. Guest guest
Oh - sorry Dorothy - I thought that you were a non-responder........... still shouldn't make a difference as you suffer from other significant disorders that were, perhaps, caused by the HCV virus. And it has been proven that the hep-c virus does cause autoimmune disorders, so here's hoping that they will take that into consideration. The doctor they sent me to was just a "regular" doc - very elderly in my case and very nice. He didn't say it, but I could tell that he was very sympathetic, as I'm sure most SS docs are. You'll do fine! Chris Actually, as far as the records go, I have beaten the disease. I really am basing my claim on the neuropathy and rheumatoid arthritis. Those are what are disabling or at least what are visible. Of course, if I didn’t have HCV, I might not have developed those problems.Gas prices getting you down?
