Guest guest
Although there is a school of thought out there that believes SVR (sustained viral response = 6 months clear or undetectable after tx is finished) is a “cure” or calls it one, at least, I don’t belong to it. There is no cure. Even if we clear/become undetectable, the virus remains in our bodies at undetectable levels forever. Being clear means its not damaging us any more. But simply put, in my opinion, if the medical types all agreed that being undetectable meant we were cured that would mean our blood was safe to share with other people again. But we can never give blood, and can only donate organs to someone else who is HCV+, so logic tells me that undetectable does not equal safe (cured). But there are plenty of people out there who call themselves cured. And as long as they’re still using safe bio-hazard practices, who am I to argue with what gets them through the night? Re: why treat Would be interested to know the difference between cured and cleared. Roy
