The title of this workshop is Using Behavior Analysis to Guide a Language Intervention Program for Children with Autism. In this workshop Dr. Sundberg will describe several contributions that behavior analysis can make to language assessment and intervention for children with autism. One of these contributions is Skinner?s behavioral analysis of verbal behavior, which can serve as a guide for identifying the language needs of an individual child, and suggest intervention strategies. Participants will learn how to apply this methodology to their own children, or to those that they work with. There will be a focus on teaching language in the natural environment, mand training, social interaction with peers, social play, and developing conversational skills.
