This presentation will provide an overview to theory and practice for promoting social and communication competence in older learners with autism. AUGUST 18TH 9:00 – 4:00 & AUGUST 19TH 9:00 – 12:00 Gerhardt, Ed.D Bridges to Adulthood Today, professionals, families and learners with ASD are beginning to redefine the outcomes of the transition process beyond simple job placement to focus on career development and measures of personal competence and life satisfaction. To this end, this presentation will provide an overview and practical suggestions for transition planning AT ANY AGE in support of desirable and individualized employment outcomes with attention to assessment, community based training, employment development, job-related social skills, and quality of life concerns. AUGUST 20TH 9:00 – 4:00 Helen Bloomer, M.A. Fluency Based Instruction and Standard Celeration Charting While often measured as percent correct, measurement of true skill mastery requires an understanding of the rate of performance, which is sometimes referred to as fluency. This presentation will provide an overview of fluency based instruction and the application of standard celeration charting in data based decision-making and trouble shooting educational programming.
