Guest guest
We are one of Dr. G's patients. Most kids on his diet can eat eggs; my son can't due to excema. However, we are allowed to use Egg Beaters. So many things you bake, however, have lots of sugar, a no no. Re: Re: GFCF diet > > > > Hello thanks for your quick response. Guest guest
If you can't use eggs, you can get an egg replacer at a health food store. You can also replace an egg with applesauce for some recipes. Guest guest
You can replace sugar with xylitol. Cheryl On Feb 20, 2008, at 5:24 AM, Robins wrote: > We are one of Dr. G's patients. Guest guest
I heard that you have to remove ALL glutens and cassiens in order to see any results. Is this true? I was reading about the diet and it seems to me like it's impossible to keep ALL of it out of his body at all times. He goes to Grams, dad's, school, friend's, parties, how do you know what things are made with everywhere you go? Does it help AT ALL if you do it at home?Rose <beachbodytan2002@...> wrote: , I have read in the past a few people that have posted about the gluten and casein diet. they have shared sites to order their foods and recipes as well treats. Maybe someone on this site today also does that diet that they can share experiences and relate with yours. maybe change the subject to who is on the gluten and casein diets? Something like that. We aren't doing that diet but glad you found something that works with your daughter Rosejennifer_thorson <jennifer_thorson > wrote: All I want is to feel included. The only people who understand the consequences of her eating something she cannot tolerate are the teachers at her school. When she was eating gluten with occassional casein with enzymes, the teacher would ask on Monday if she had any changes to her diet when ever she ate cheese or had ice cream. They were the ones that suggested that we no longer give any casein in November and by January recommended she no longer have gluten. Since last spring when we first challenged the diet, they have had to have her removed from class numerous times. First we stopped allowing regular food at school and she improved. Then removed most casein and she improved. Then the removal of all casein. Before stopping the diet she was so much better than she is now. She had much better concentration and less sensory issues. I feel like we are starting over. So for me it is obvious that diet affects her. > > > > > > She was on. It was the 2nd piece that they did. Not too > > > > > long. Guest guest
It is all or nothing most of the time. I was able to add enzymes to cover for cross contamination after 6 months. But in the first 6 months there was no wheat bread/crackers or anything that made crumbs in the house. We had regular cheese, milk, and pasta in the house after the initial removal (no milk or cheese in the house for the first month as she adjusted). I sent her lunch and snacks to school. I had the diet written into her IEP so the staff was responsible for making sure it was followed. I send food to Grandma's, friend's houses, even on vacation. My daughter learned to ask if something had wheat or cow's milk and understood why she needed to avoid these foods even at 4. If you are intersted I would try it 100% until/if you see results, then add enzymes. Some leave the diet with enzymes but others need limited casein/gluten and others like us cannot leave the diet. Enzymes alone are cheaper than the diet. > > > > > > > She was on. It was the 2nd piece that they did. Not too > > > > > > long. Guest guest
, in the past, people wrote in that they take their own treats for their child when going to parties. now I never know anyone personally that was on this diet, but I know someone that was a vegan vegetarian, she raised her child right from the beginning to also be V.V. in the lower grades, he took his lunch to school. as he got older and the kids would have a birthday party, he would have his own type of cake that he took to class. so of course his cake was different from the others and someone wanted to taste it. they did and liked it and shared theirs. So, he had a taste of their cake. then at lunch, he tasted the chicken nuggets, even though he had his type of un-chicken nuggets. I know a V.V. diet isn't the same as the diet your all speaking of, but yes, kids will want a taste of something other's have. then she found out he's been sneaking it. so, I guess its very hard for vegetarian kids too. even when the whole family is vegetarian. Guest guest
I have baked cupcakes for parties at school and all the kids ate them. They had no idea. Cakes are the easiest things to bake. Bread and bagels are for the experts. > > > > > > > She was on. It was the 2nd piece that they did. Not too > > > > > > long. Guest guest
Has anyone worked with a child on the GFCF diet? I currently work with someone who is on the diet. I am teaching her manding but it is proving a little difficult because she doesn't like a lot of the food on the diet (she was on regular diet before, and she ate fine, but now this is a problem). Any suggestions?
