Spring is here and so is CSE--Educational Advocacy is all about

getting services you are entitled to. Parent, professional, and

legal opinions will help you navigate the system. Question and

Bios: Debora , is Co-Founder of the ELIJA Foundation

www.elija.org , Long Island's largest educational organization

specializing in the treatment of children with Autism. She is also

Co-Executive Director of The Elija School www.elijaschool.org , an

educational treatment program for children with Autism, as well as Co-

Executive Director of Effect Interventions

www.effectiveinterventions.com , a behaviorally based clinic for

children with autistic spectrum disorders in Nassau County. She is

also a parent of a child with ASD. Debora continues to offer ongoing

seminars in a variety of topics pertaining to intervention, advocacy,

and parenting children with ASD.

D. Thivierge, Esq. is an attorney representing children

with special needs. She is a founding partner of Thivierge &

Rothberg PC www.trspecialedlaw.com. graduated from the City

University of New York School Law (JD) and Central Connecticut State

University (BS). Prior to attending law school, she spent nine years

with the Central Connecticut ARC working with adults diagnosed with

autism and other disabilities. has litigated due process

cases in New York, New Jersey, Indiana, and Alaska. is

admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, as well as a number

of circuit Courts of appeal. She has extensive experience in federal

court and has argued many dispositive motions and matters of first

impression. Ms. Thivierge is an award-winning member of NYSABA, and

also belongs to COPPA and the New York County Lawyers Association.

Additionally, she has presented on the IDEA and IDEIA and other

special education law topics for a number of organizations.

Randy Rothberg Esq. is an attorney representing children with special

needs. She is a founding partner of Thivierge & Rothberg PC

www.trspecialedlaw.com.

Randi graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (BA, cum laude,

2000) and the N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University

(JD, 2003). During law school, Randi was a published member of the

Cardozo Women's Law Journal executive board ( " Not As Simple As

Learning the ABC's: A Comment on Owasso Independent School District

No. I-011 v. Falvo and the State of the Family Educational Rights and

Privacy Act, " 9 Cardozo Women's Law Journal 27 (2002)). She also

published " Copyright Term Extension Legislation " in Extending

Mickey's Life: Eldred v. Ashcroft and the Copyright Term Extension

Debate, ( K. Yu, ed., forthcoming).
