Up till recently, I Tae-Boed everyday alternating Adv and Basic and taking

maybe one day a month off. I was also weight training 3 times a week and

doing other cardio and stretching routines. I recently realized it was too

much not giving my body a chance to heal & rebuild so am decreasing the

Tae-Bo to 4 a week (2 Basics and 2 Advanced) & taking one day, maybe two off

a week. I have hardly lost a pound over the course of the last year since

adding the Advanced format but was feeling so well, ignored that fact. Now my

body seems to be more sore and fatigued so I'm listening to my body.

Hello :)

Congrats on your Journey :) the beauty of Tae-Bo IMHO (in my humble

opinion) is the fact that you don't have to modify your

diet....obviously if you want to do that you can :) but is soo much

more fun to eat and workout then not eat and workout don't yah

think ;)

I do an advanced tape on Saturday and Sunday, Monday I usually do just a

basic, on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday I do two basic tapes... one in the

morning before work and one in the evening. I take Wednesdays off each week.

I've only been doing this for a couple of weeks but it seems to be something

I can stick with and doesn't take too much out of me. Before that I would

do taebo whenever I got the urge, after a while I realized that I wasn't

getting the urge nearly as much as I needed to be so I had to come up with

something else to get myself to workout. My eating habits are very

unpredictable... overall I eat relatively healthy, meaning that I don't

overdo it with sweets and fastfood. Of course, I HAVE to have them both at

some point but I try not to make it an everyday occurrence. Ok, I do HAVE

to have something sweet everyday but a few cookies won't hurt at all. :)

Congrats on the new tape!! I don't have that one so let us know how you like

it!! Also a big CONGRATULATIONS on the new baby!!

When I first started doing tae-bo and had gotten myself to where I

could do the advanced tapes....I did Advanced tapes 6 days a week

because with all the other types of exercise I had done in the

past...I figured I needed to be doing advanced tapes to see results.

But, what I soon realized is that you can see just as many benefits

when you do the basic tapes.....the whole more is not necessarily

better thing! So, for me....I started alternating Advanced and basic

days and found that my body responded much better (and thanked me)

because I was just getting worn down and tired when I was doing all

advanced tapes! Now, I have added weight training into my

routine....so on the days that I do basic tapes, I go to the gym to

lift (and I run a little bit on the treadmill on those days too)!

It's really up to you! As long as you are using proper form and

technique.....those basic workouts will give you just as good a

workout as the advanced tapes! And really try to listen to your

body......if you start noticing that you are getting really

tired....cut back a little bit!

As far as diet, you have to find something that works for you and

that you can live with. Don't cut back too much right now, though,

while you are nursing your baby because you need those extra

calories. You don't want to deprive yourself right now because then

you will be depriving your baby! I was going to WW after I gave

birth to my daughter and they allow you 10 extra points a day when

you are nursing.....so definitely don't try to cut back while you are

still nursing!

Good luck! Just try to be more conscious of making healthy choices,

but don't deprive yourself of eating things that you enjoy....cause

then you'll just be miserable!

who pretty much eats what she wants to these days thanks to tae-bo :)

I noticed if I do the advanced tapes 2 days in a row I get really

sluggish on the third day. So, I am thinking I will alternate

between the advanced and the basics. I like the harder workout in

the advanced for cardio when I'm feeling jiggly and the basic is good

when I just don't have the time in the morning to workout for an hour.

Do you think I should add weights? I don't have access to a gym so

whatever I do would have to be at home.

I don't really eat BAD but I like my junk food. So, it sounds like

people are not really changing their eating habits as much as their

exercis habits, right?

Thanks for the congrats... he's a sweet little boy.

I did the BL9 tape this morning. Not sure if I like it or not. It

didn't get me hyped like some of the other tapes. Seems a little

slow going or something.

If you like lifting weights...I'd add them in! I did a good year of

tae-bo without lifting weights and had incredible changes in my body,

so tae-bo will tone you all by itself. But, the weights will

certainly enhance your progress. I like lifting weights now because

I can actually see my muscles developing and getting stronger and I

like the feeling I have when I am lifting....like " I am strong and

powerful " ....LOL! Anyway, lots of folks like alternating cardio with

weights...like do 5 minutes of tae-bo...then push pause and do some

weight work with your free weights...then do some more cardio, etc!

That's a really effective workout because you still get the benefit

of keeping your heart rate up during the cardio and you are working

your muscles with the weights! Anyway, just do what you like....if

you want to do some weight work....go for it!

I went to WW right after I gave birth to my daughter and I followed

that plan until I got back to my goal weight (I'm a lifetime WW

member). I still allowed myself to have my " treats " when I wanted

them because I found that when I allowed myself to eat the things I

was craving.....I was less likely to binge on them. So, I simply

added those into my daily food intake and counted them in my points!

It's much easier for me to eat the things I like but in

moderation....otherwise, when I try to deprive myself of those

things....the cravings are so intense I end up over-indulging! And

with tae-bo, I have found that I really can eat a lot more and still

continue to change my body (although the weight has pretty much

stabilized)! Good luck and just try to listen to your body!

came up with the wonderful motto that a lot of us try to

follow......just try to eat healthy 80% of the time! I figure if I

can do that...I'm doing alright :)

Do it again! I had the same impression the first time I did it, but

the second time I did it....I really liked it! I got a really good

workout and was sweating up a storm :)

who is going to write reviews for BL9 and AL9 soon...I promise :)

MAN, I got tired just reading what you do. HA!!! Hopefully I can

find something that will give me results. I've been doing Tae Bo for

over a year and a half but I just haven't figured out what exactly

works for me, just yet.

Talia,

I work out at a gym with weights, but if you don't have access to a

gym....you can use free weights at home. I know there are a couple

gals here who do that! I'd start off with small weights (3-5 lbs)

and slowly work your way up to (8-10lbs). You can do tons of

exercises with the free weights (bicep curls, shoulder presses, flys,

tricep exercises, etc.) If you have never lifted before, you might

want to get a book about weightlifting (somebody may have a

suggestion) just so you can become familiar with the different

exercises and set up a routine for yourself!

who is going to get back into lifting this week after taking 2 weeks

off :)

Wow, Talia, you are just going to miss our " taebo convention " by a

few

weeks. Are you planning to go to the WTC? I would if I were you,

even if just to see it and to shop a little. It is very impressive.

Talia,

There are several people from this group who live in the area, the

closest one being Kat, who would probably connect and possibly take a

class with you. Don't be intimidated! There are beginners in those

classes! Just walk out when you need to...I did.
