Guest guest
I think they are better with ice, but judging from this list, I think it is a matter of personal preference. Everyone seems to like their shakes mixed different ways, and different consistencies. Andyman > Are they better with the ice? I tried my first one today, > strawberry. Guest guest
I have done the shaking thing like that before, usually followed by a bad bout of throwing up (sorry if tmi). My Dr. has speculated that it is from the Still's when it happens. Beth
Guest guest
This sounds about right. I will be shivering uncontrollably even though I may be sweating and have a high fever. I have found this to be one of the worst aspects of this disease. Kirk Shakes I'm not sure this is what you were posting about...I have " chills " on the inside. Internally, I feel so cold that I literally shiver externally. However, the several times that this has occurred I am actually flushed and warm externally. I have never taken my temp around one of these but the posts reminded me of these episodes. Guest guest
Thank you Beth as it seems we all must have experenced these shakes at one time or another. I sort of thought it was the stills, but my Rheumy didn't know why I was doing that and of course she doesn't know the first thing about this. Guest guest
Kirk I'm with you, this has got to me the bad part of this disease. I mean the pain is bad too and this is also bad. I was worried because I once had TB and thought that the shakes and then the sweats ment that it was happening again. I really can't remember anything about the TB but I knew I was in the hospital. I wasn't in for long though maybe a week or two. I don't know anything about TB but do you think I should have my kids tested? I know each were tested before entering school but not that they are no longer in school maybe I should have them checked out again. I know their doctor doesn't know I once had TB. I talked with my sister who is far away, and she said I was put in the hospital for TB but they released me because they found out I didnt' have TB after all. Who knows!! All I know is when I got all my records from Childrens hospital they included a paper from some helth place saying I had TB and they were going to put me in the hospital and give me medication. It didn't give a release date or that it turned out not to be TB after all. This is sad as now I know I can't take Humira. Hugs; Ginger Kirk Bonanny wrote: This sounds about right. Guest guest
Hi , I get a chill on the inside but then on the outside I shake to no end. And when I shake I shake. I can't even walk or do anything. After covering myself with many like maybe 6 blankets and covering my face too, I am warm to the touch all the rest of the day. I only have gotten these shakes around 3 or 4 am. Then I am so sweaty I have to change and as I touch the air in the house I start to shake again. I do plan to take my temp now as I have put the temp right next to my bed where I can reach it. Guest guest
I've been getting the shakes lately even it seems after eating. Is there a way I can check my blood sugar myself. Thanks Jackie -praying for your daughters continued improvement. Gald she is doing better DEbbie
Guest guest
Yes, You can pick up a blood sugar monitor at any drug store. Wal mart has the store brand or generic brand for really cheap like 8.00 for the monitor and you can buy the strips cheaply also. They work just as well as the more expensive models just cost less. It might be a good idea for you to get one. Any thing over 200 is high blood sugar Anything less than 70 is low blood sugar Between 70 and 140 is normal blood sugar. If it is higher than 200 you need to contact your doctor for more test. If it is lower than 70 you need to eat some starches like potatoes. And get to the ER, blood sugar is nothing to fool around with. I ended up in the ER last year with a blood sugar of 24, that was not a good thing. I spend all night there trying to get it back up to normal. Funny thing is I should have been passed straight out. Although I was shaking like a leaf, I was talking and able to give the damn insurance lady my info. She wouldn't let me see the doctor till I had given her my info. Good thing the nurse took me right back and she gave the insurance lady a talking to. Love JanetDebbie wrote: I've been getting the shakes lately even it seems after eating. Guest guest
Let me give you those values again, I was mistaken about some of the figures I gave you. Okay Normal fasting blood sugar is 70-110 Blood sugar 2 hours after Start of Meal- <less than 140 Well controlled blood sugar is 70-140 High Blood sugar > more than 140 Low Blood Sugar is (Hypoglycemia) is <less than 70 Anything over 200 talk to your doctor about. And let me say this if your blood sugar stays over 250 for several check, you need to see your doctor immediately. Guest guest
JanetMost pharmacies have FREE glucose monitors that they are given by the companies that make the lancets,, my rog got his for free , so everyone should ask the pharmacist if they have any free ones if you arent too embarrassed to ask.. We were just talking with our pharmacist about which monitor would be the best value and he said they always have free ones sitting around so they gave us one... But the ones at wallmart sound great too and not too expensive..Jackie ThanksYou guys always make me feel betterDebbie> I've been getting the shakes lately even it seems after eating. Guest guest
Hey Janet,, our info said normal blood sugars were anything between 60-120.. 120 was the cut off for high sugars,, these are fasting sugars tho,, not after eating..Jackie I've been getting the shakes lately even it seems after eating. Guest guest
Thank you so much Debbie,, yes she is better but I hope her white count is finally starting to go down,, it keeps going higher and higher.. even with the drains in place.. yep, you can check your blood sugar at home.. I posted that my husband Rog and I were talking with our pharmacist about "which" glucometer to buy and he said they had several free ones and gave us a free one, works great too.. he said the drug companies give most of the pharmacies free glucometers to give out ,, you might check with your pharmacy and see if they have any to give away?JackieSubject: ShakesTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Thursday, June 12, 2008, 9:33 AM I've been getting the shakes lately even it seems after eating.
