did you take pictures? if you have not do it tonight! i'm serious. you and i

weigh about the same and the first week i keep holding that picture up and

standing in front of the mirror looking for a sign. now in my 8th week i see

the results. do the pics, (yes it is a painful thing) and pick out a pair of

pants, and shirt that are tight-try those on every week. i got into a pair of

cords that i have not worn since i know like 95. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Wayne,

Have you been on the scale? You bad boy!!!! LOL You really are

losing weight, you just don't " see " it reflected on that darn scale.

Most people don't " see " a weight loss for several weeks. Please put

the darn thing in the trunk of your car and forget about it for the

next 11 weeks. Please don't be depressed. By weeks 4-6, you will

have to put a couple of more notches in your belt but you may

not " see " a weight loss on the scale.

Hang in there! Been there, done that, threw the darn scale at a

personal trainer!

Aww, c'mon Wayne, give yourself a break!

No need to feel depressed. Watch my lips...body...for...LIFE. One more

time...body...for... (you say it....). Right! for LIFE. That can be a fairly

long time, if you're careful. One week does not a life make, right? Besides,

you're in the process of building muscle, right? Muscle is denser than fat.

Muscle weighs MORE than fat. So, follow me now, if you weigh the

same...since you're building muscle...HEY! You just lost a lot of fat!!!

Congratulations, Wayne on finishing your first week. Now, back to the gym

and lets knock off week number two, too. (tutu? not again!)

Les

Ahh, MP, you caught me too. I'm only on my C1W2D1 and I've stepped on the scale hoping to see results. Stupid, stupid, stupid. And I know better. It is a bit depressing not to see the scale drop significantly, but I feel good and am still highly motivated. I need to hide the darned thing to keep me from using it for at least 3 more weeks.

Hi,

I am also a C1W2D1 and I have only seen a 1/2 pound

loss, but I was amazed at yesterday. It was my free

day and the food didn't taste as good as I thought it

would. I ended the night with a protein shake and 1/2

banana....Today the cardio was a little harder to do

afte taking the day off yesterday...Is this normal not

to really like the taste of my old favorites???

Wayne,

Don't stress out. Everyone's body is different and will respond in slightly

different ways. Considering you've been on Craig for so long, you

might not have the same amount of water weight to dump like I probably had.

In the past week, I've actually gained weight... but I'm positive it was

muscle and not fat.

Like others have said, this is for life. If we get discouraged and quit,

are we going to be any different a year from now than we are today? And is

that how we want to look?

It's a big mindset change, but if you accept that if you are doing this for

the long haul, there is *no way* you won't get your results.

And as others have said... get off the scale and leave that to the neurotic

people on this list like me. ;-)

Bwahahahahahah!!!

Les you are forever the optimist. Love the attitude.

Wayne, I second Les' opinion...as one who has not seen much improvement via

the scale, I know how depressing that can be. In fact on my first challenge

I think I actually gained weight in my second week.

You need a paradigm shift. Stop looking to the scale!!!!! IT IS YOUR

ENEMY!!! It lies to you, tt cheats you out of celebrating your improvments,

and worst of all it steals your confidence and motivation. Now scale be

gone!

There was a discussion going on last week on this exact topic--your old favorites just don't taste as good. This is a good thing. Your body, your mind, your tastes are evolving. Congratulations!

I'm also guilty of the "scale thing", but I am seeing a lot of weight loss. I've gone from 240 to 216 in about three weeks. Does this mean I'm probably losing muscle? More protein?

Lana, I experienced this for the first time today. I was doing pulldowns and noticed the muscles in my forearms were getting really noticable. I ended up doing 10 reps when I was supposed to be doing 6 because I was so excited watching my newfound muscles. Then I smashed my finger with a weight and buzzkill.

wooo... you go girl! strong forearms are a *goooood* thing. There's alot

of stuff you can't do without a strong forearm. For example: about a month

or month & 1/2 ago, I was doing straight leg deadlifts (with a barbell). My

6 was 80 pounds and the bar was slipping from my grip. It hurt, but I

finished it.... I also aquired a very freaky looking bruise in the middle of

my inside forearm. That freaked me out a bit so I backed off. I haven't

done straight leg deads in a few weeks, so I gave it a go the other day...

100# for 4 or 5 reps and my grip was fine! It was the hamstrings this time

that were cussing me. LOL. I think I need that glutamine now!

Yes, I've found that my tastes have changed. Some of my favorite

places that I used ot like to eat, don't sound appealing anymore.

Places that I didn't eat very often are now appealing to me every

week.

The balance of carbs & protein keeps insulin levels in check so you

don't have the strong craving for certain foods that you used to.

I've learned though to take advantage of free days and enjoy them. I

might have an occasional treat every now and then if the situation

arises, but don't usually feel like making a pig of myself anymore.

Ouch! I just smashed mine between two 10 pounders. Of course, I had just run smack into one of the other machines while getting off the leg curl machine and almost ripped my arm off so I was looking like a real bigdumbdork at the time. And my husband was laughing so hard he nearly fell off his bench. See the kinda support I get? And here I am spending my precious free time acting as his campaign manager! Sheesh!

Well, lana, I would definitely be dead if I tried to lift that much. I guess it gives new meaning to "deadlift"! Or is that what they meant in the first place?

Unless you're a woman. (wink, wink) Monthly hormones shoot this all

to hell...at least for me. I've been craving carbs so bad I was

ready to bite someone's head off yesterday in the hopes of finding

cookies inside. Someone (not on this list) indicated that soy

helps. Anyone heard anything like this before?
