Guest guest
Welcome Lin! You are in good company here : ) I had situational depression and PTSD after surgery several years ago, so panic attacks are quite familiar to me! I am now recovered from all of that, but I am currently dealing with fibromyalgia. I am also waiting for test results that will tell me whether or not I have rheumatoid arthritis or Lupus. I really depend on affirmations and positive self-talk to get me through the day. Guest guest
Hello Andie, and thankyou so much for the nice welcome. I am so glad to hear you are over your depression and anxiety but so sorry to hear of your medical conditions you are dealing with at the present. I also depend on positive self talk thoughout each day, and as I say this I think back to the many, many years where it had always been negative self talk to myself. Its only been in the past 8 yrs where Ive had the ability to believe I was of worth to have positive self talk. It had to be learned and it was still hard but now it comes feely to me. I have come very far in learning many things in the past 10 yrs. 10 yrs ago I had a very bad breakdown and was hospilized. Anyway...Thankyou for your kind words and making me feel at home. Guest guest
Lin, Just wanted to comment that people really don't realize what an impact that positive self-talk has on a person, until they try it. Don't you think? I came from a negative, critical background in my family home and I had to read Louise Hay's books, to learn how to love myself, and how to do personal self-talk. That is why she is so important to me! It helped change my whole life. Many Hugs, PJ JustaLady wrote: Hello Andie, and thankyou so much for the nice welcome. Guest guest
Hi PJ...I cannot even begin to tell you how true it is of what you have said about people not realizing the impact of positive self talk. I remember back in reading and being taught of this and believing it was not true...for if you belived the truth( the truth was what you believed about yourself, the bad things, were so reinforced in you, and you had many years in reinforcing all this). In starting to learn, in small bits, and in getting to a point where you finally realized the truth was really a lie and only a very sad survival tactic, something learned from toxic people. Im learning and believing the truth of myself with positive, it totally changed me..my whole life and outlook....I finally became me. And there is so much good in me. Guest guest
I've been on those you mentioned. Bad side effects. Every body reacts differently to meds. I go to 2 support groups a week. One is Recovery. and a Jewish class and write affirmations. I use the tools I get from Recovery every day. Works for me. Living in a subsidized apartment complex with mostly elderly negative people who thrive on complaining and finding problems. I need to get out and be with help type stuff or positive people. It's what keeps me going. Now that I am doing more of it myself rather than depending on meds it seems to keep me better. Believe me, this group knows I have my days. With this chemical imbalance some times it is hard to control but when I have a bad day I just live through it. pauline > Hello ine and thankyou for the nice welcome. Guest guest
We live with habits. And habits are very hard to break. It took years to hit this point. It's not going to take a week to change it. My Rabbi said last week that life is totally a perception. I realized he was right. I've heard it for years but living it and believing it and practicing it are different things. Sometimes we are not ready to accept it. pauline > > Hi PJ...I cannot even begin to tell you how true it is of what you have said > about people not realizing the impact of positive self talk.
