I wonder if you have any idea what "finding a cure" entails? KKI's focus for decades was lead poisoning research, prevention and treatment. It has served this country well. I don't know enough to support or defend them but I do know that this on-line community is not overly populated with scientists who understand the concept of evidence-based medicine. virri345@... wrote: I've actually never been impressed with KKI. You say, "I do know that this on-line community is not overly populated with scientists who understand the concept of evidence-based medicine."

OH REALLY????

Sweetie Pie, why don't you just quit while you are already behind...

Truly yours,

A stupid redneck reject who don't know nothin' but no sigh-ance

P.S.

You obviously have no clue.

--and by the way the rules of research ACTUALLY say you cannot PROVE anything, only DISPROVE it, and there is not one study disproving ANY of the current models of causation of autism.

I am a real fan of giving people the benefit of the doubt before I

jump down their throats about anything. It is only fair to ask

delaCruz to clarify her remarks, to make sure we are understanding her

intended communications. I often wish people would extend to me the

same courtesy.

She says: " I do know that this on-line community is not overly

populated with scientists who understand the concept of evidence-based

medicine. "

This is a pretty nebulous statement. After all, just about the whole

world is an on-line community. Is she refering more to the autism

community? Or maybe to this list in particular? Perhaps she is

operating on some erroneous third hand characterizations of who we

are, rather than her own direct experiences. This list is made up of

1200 members. Only a dozen or two ever post.

I am open to finding our where I may be wrong or may be ignorant. For

example, I am fascinated by the CDC's response to Kirby on the VSD,

posted here elsewhere and am keen on investigating the matter further.

I would like to give delaCruz the opportunity to discuss this in a

friendly manner and regret any rude treatment. I would only assume

first that people are here for constructive purposes and encourage her

further participation.

I agree, Lenny, I welcome alternative points of view, after all, the

truth is what's important, not who's right or wrong.

Just don't tell me how great the doctors are I've had to work with the

last few years, lol. I have way to much evidence to even need to

consider that one!

I don’t know but I can give you the email address of one of the doctors if you would like to ask

Kennedy Krieger Institute

Does anyone know if KKI coordinates with The M.I.N.D. Institute or other research entities (to avoid duplication of studies/efforts to conserve $) or just publishes results of all these autism-based research studies it does? msherrett.

I can't get that darn thing to work for me lol After I signed up, it sent a

confirmation link to my e-mail, but that takes me to a dead page. I'm going

to try again with a different username and see if that helps. Thanks for

sending the link through, I had lost it! =)

Hi Mina, I live in Reston, VA. I have only heard great things about KK. I've know counselors who work there and they thought it was an outstanding program. Jody "Be the change you want to see in the world" Gandhi ( ) Kennedy Krieger Institute

Hi everyone,

I'm in the Baltimore area (about 1 hour away, actually), and we've

decided to have our two suspected HFA sons (4 and almost 3) evaluated

at Kennedy Krieger. We're also considering putting our 4 year old

into the preschool at KK, and possibly my other son as well. Has

anyone dealt with KK on this list, and what do you have to say about it?

Thanks,

Mina

My 17 year old daughter goes to the Rockville campus.? This school has been the

best I have found.? They have a very nice building, behavioral specialist,

nurse, speech pathologist and OT on campus, and one of the best things is that

they are prepared to deal with problems BEFORE they happen.

Have your friend email me if he/she wants to ask questions.
