Elija hosts a gala every year in October. An event like no other. We

have unique entertainment, dining,dancing, and fun for everyone.

Our annual gala allows us to raise funds so we can continue keeping

Lond Island on the forefront of effective teaching technologies for

children with Autism.

The ELIJA Foundation was founded in 2002,we are a non for profit 501

We create opportunities for parents, caregivers and educators

to increase their effectiveness with learners with autism, by

bringing the top professionals in the field to dissiminate their

information via workshops and lectures.

The ELIJA Foundation also hosts ongoing workshops and support groups

on specific topics relating to autism at our ELIJA House in Levittown.

Joanne Gerenser , CCC , SLP

For her contributions to the field of

Autism & Applied Behavior Analysis

About our recipient: Joanne Gerenser is the Executive Director of the

Eden II Programs, a set of programs serving children and adults with

autism throughout New York City and Long Island. Joanne received her

Master's Degree at the Ohio State University and her Ph.D. in Speech

and Hearing Sciences at the City University of New York Graduate

Center. Joanne is the past president of the New York State

Association for Behavior Analysis and a member of the Scientific

Advisory Council for the Organization for Autism Research. Joanne

sits on the advisory boards of several schools and programs for

individuals with autism throughout the United States and abroad. She

has authored several book chapters and articles on speech-language

disorders and autism.

This year, we celebrate with the ambiance of Old Key West. It is one

of Joanne's favorite places, so we hope to bring the spirit of the

Keys to her on this very special night!

Tonight, we also celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of

Mrs. Stella Spanakos

She is the recipient of The 2007 ELIJA Parent Award, where we

recognize her for her contributions to our Long Island Autism
