Guest guest
We have a student who is an intermediate-advanced learner on the ABLLS and uses sign language as his primary mode of communication. We have begun to teach him to read and I have been doing some research on teaching nonverbal children to read. Has anyone ever used the " Nonverbal Reading Approach " to teach your nonverbal child to read? I like the way it works, because it's a phonics-based approach and the script you follow is very similar to a Direct Instruction approach, however I'm a bit skeptical about the " sound it out in your head " and " say it fast in your head " parts. Please email me privately if you have ever used this approach with our without success. We are currently having some success, but just started it. Thanks!
