Guest guest
Dr. Mark Sundberg will present a three day workshop, Designing a Language Curriculum and Intervention Program for Children with Autism using the VB-MAPP in Columbia, SC February 4-6 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Dr. Sundberg, co-author of the books The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills: The ABLLS and Teaching Language to Children with Autism or other Developmental Disabilities, has developed a new assessment tool, The Verbal Behavior Milestones As sessment and Placement Program: The VB-MAPP. However, the VB-MAPP is more than an assessment tool. It is also a curriculum guide and skill tracking system that is designed for children with autism and other individuals who demon strate language delays. In addition to an assessment of language, learning, and social skills, the program20includes an assessment of 24 language and learning barriers (e.g., rote responding, scrolling, instructional control, defectiveC2mands) that may interfere with a child's learning. The VB- MAPP also contains a Transition Assessment that can help to determine the best educational placement for a child. The VB-MAPP is based on B.F. Skinner's (1957) analysis of verbal behavior, established developmental milestones, and research from the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We have extended the registration deadline until this coming Monday, February 2, 2009. There are only a limited number of seats still available, so please register today!
