Guest guest
A lot of you will have heard me lament the fact I have lost my taste for beer which I used to really enjoy. Wine is also off my list but I was amazed when Bev was staying with me I bought a french bread stick to eat with a gorgeous soup we made. As I have no restriction I thought I would try a slice of my old favourite. I haven't had any since Nov.'04. Anyway, I slathered the butter (marg) on, just like I always did, but I could not put it in my mouth. I had to scrape and scrape until there was none there. It gave the sensation of thick, fat lard as it passed my lips. No way could I chew it. Everything seems so different now. I am thinking my pallet must have been lined with oil and fat etc. and after so long without it, it seems the predominant thing I notice if I try to eat anything too oily or fatty these days. It's good for me but a strange feeling just the same that these things I once loved and lived on are now so repulsive to me. Weird hey?? M.
