Guest guest
I just got a call from her. Her platelets went up to 75 so she was very relieved and said she is going to try to finish the last 2 weeks... How low is too low?? Poss. termintating treatment.. Long.. sorry.. Hello everyone, I just want to say Thank You so much for all the replies and words of encouragement I have gotten about my Mom in the past few weeks. I am so sorry I have been so quiet and I want you all to know that I have gotten all your emails and my Mother and I really appreciate all of your comments.... My Mom is just going thru such an awful time! She has only 2 weeks to go and I think she is going to terminate treatment. Nothing any of us say can change her mind. Her plateles are very low, 66, and she is just beside herself with worry. What makes it worse is that she is being told to avoid people, as her white count is so low, so she has litterally imprisoned herself in her house and I think she is just sitting around and worrying about her platelets all day... She is going on for another blood test today and has already made up her mind that if her numbers are down again she is terminating treatment... ;0( How low is 66? Should she be considering quitting treatment? Her Liver Dr. says no that they are super low but she is not at the point of needing to quit treatment.. And they have been fluctuating between 66 and 89 for the past few months... If anyone has any ideas of what I can tell her to try to keep her on the treatment for just a 14 more days I would really appreciate it. I tried doing the countdown but all it does is upset her. (ex. "Only 20 days left to go and you are DONE!" she will reply "If I make it" or "honey, I know 20 days doesn't seem like a long time to you but it is overwhelming long to me.") I talked to her about anti-depressants but she flat out refuses and I have no clue why.. Her Dr. and the nurses and the Pegasys people are telling her she needs to finish this treatment but she keeps saying she is getting no advice on what to do.. I just don't know what else to do.. If she does terminate treatment now, does she still have a good chance at reaching SVR? She was undetectable by (before) 12 weeks and she has finished 46 wks of the 48 wk treatment.. Thank you again reading and for your continued support and advice.. ~heidi~
