Guest guest
Make sure they double glove when giving shots. It is just a extra precaution. Even when they take my blood for blood test I ask them to double glove. I don't want to pass this stuff on to my worst enemy. Not that I have one. LOL But still, I don't want to be the one. I wish I had the habit back then to double glove, I might not have this disease today. Had I did that. If someone else were to do the shots, they would most certainly need to wear gloves as a precaution. Guest guest
As Jackie says once you get used to it, it is easy peasey. I did treatment twice, and every week did my shots. Yeah I am a nurse and I gave shots all the time. But I never had to give myself a shot!!!!!!!!!!!! Well big surprise, I had to do it. It was easy after the first one. And if you need me to help you through your first shot, then call me. My number is in the database on the website. Honey, I will be there for you. I will walk you through it and calm your fears. I am a diabetic now because of the treatment. Nasty little side effect that I got left with. No biggie tho. I was overweight while on treatment, and that helped push me over the edge. My sugar levels made me sometimes have to take as many as 5 shots a day!!! Now that is not fun. But I do it. Because I am watching my sugar levels really careful and I am trying to get to the point that I am diet controlled. I was for a while but silly me, I quit taking the acto-metaformin because it was driving my sugar levels too low. And I didn't consul my doctor just quit taking it. It was too expensive and I thought I could just watch what I ate. Hmmm little did I know. Now I am on straight Reg. insulin and Levermir (long lasting insulin). I lost 107 lbs and I am still losing weight through diet and exercise in hopes of getting my sugar levels even out. But the shots are something that will become old hat to you. And you will wonder after time what you were afraid of. If I can be of help let me know. Guest guest
Once in a while, my hubbie or my son would give me shots. Because I ran out of places on my tummy or legs that were not rashed out or something like that(butt shots) no not too low on the buttock because my son would say Ewww. They double gloved and always handed me the needle for disposal. I would not let them recap the needle. That is where alot of folks get needle sticks. And there are special gloves that you can buy tho, expensive that a needle will not go through. You get them from a medical supply company. They use them in surgery sometimes. The thing is the fear is the worst that you have to get over. And after you have given your first shot, you are like what was I thinking. Most of the time, your doctor's nurse will be there to teach you on your first shot. Love Janet Dorothy wrote: I would guess that just about all of the group here give themselves their shots.
