Guest guest
Welcome to the list, Sharon,it's good to have somewhere to go to ask questions. I've been hanging out here for 2 years this month.. As we are all individuals and some on other meds, or with other health issues, it's difficult to say what your husband's sides will be, or whether he will be able to continue to work through it. He first needs to get through his tests and for sure needs to know which Geneotype he is dealing with. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, as Sheena said, its really hard to predict who will be able to continue to work and who wont.. unfortunately your husband does a job that requires physical exertion and that will be more difficult while on tx altho I know several who have been able to maintain their jobs.. I was a 911 paramedic and couldnt continue.. so it might be a good thing to prepare for tx,, has he had a biopsy yet? If he has little to no damage, he could hold off starting tx and prepare financially in case he would have to stop work in order to finish his tx.. It will also be important to know what genotype he is because 24 weeks is much shorter than 48 weeks,, and some docs even say you gotta treat for that amount of time AFTER you reach undetectible,, especially with geno 1.. I was scheduled for 60 weeks of tx but had to stop and be hospitalized for several units of packed red cells at week 54.. but I was still undetectible LAST year on my 4th year post tx pcr.. just had my 5 year post tx drawn last week and will be seeing my doc on the 16th.. I have no reason to think I may have relapsed but who knows and Ill be very concerned until I hear that Im still clear.. its a yearly thing..lol.. please feel free to ask us any questions, we're here to help,, and God Bless YOU for being involved in your husbands health and tx.. this kind of support if very very important! hugsJackie Subject: What to expectTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 9:05 AM Waiting for more labs to come back on my husband to know if he has hepC 123or4,already had a positive for hepC .The gastro. doctor has already told us the treatment means daily pills and weekly shot for either 6 mos or 12. Guest guest
Listen hon, it really doesnt matter HOW ya get this, what matters is how ya going to get rid of it.. He NEEDS to have a biopsy no matter what, an ultra sounds only can tell if he has big lesions or liver tumors, it cannot tell what is happening down at the cellular level,, so dont le him think he can get a true idea of what is going on in his liver without one,, you can't.. Biopsy is the gold standard..and is the only way to know for sure how much damage he does or does not have. There is a blood test called the Fibrosure that some call accurate but its not,, it can be somewhat accurate in stage 0-1 or state 4,, but anything between 1 and 4 its totally INACCURATE.. my fibrosure said I was stage 0-1 and I was actually a stage 2-3.. but that was better than the stage 3-4 I started out with when I was diagnosed. Please respond at the top of each email instead of the bottom because some of our members are on dial up and the more words left from the previous email, the longer it takes for their's to download.. thanks hugs, jax
