Guest guest
Hi there, I know from my days of working ER and being a home nurse that some meds can have the opposite effect on children, i.e., Ritilin, which is given to ADHD children. Basically it is speed but on kids it has a calming effect. I guess it's not that uncommon for this to happen but it couldn't have happened at a worse time. If we have to do the MRI again and that looks likely there is a place in San Francisco that actually knocks the child out for the MRI. I'm sure this is done by giving a vena injection which will cause another upheaval for my daughter but hopefully they will have something we can give her to calm her down before hand. Thank you for your concern, Kathleen in California
Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear about your daughter, Kathleen. I feel it's bad enough for me, a 30 year old, to have had more or less constant pain for over three years now, but a child so young, that's just not meant to happen! I have never heard of Valium having the other effect on people, only calming them down. I have a type of short working Valium, and one that works over a longer period of time (1+1 is a good thing), for when the anxiety and pain is really bad (when thinking about the present and future, anyone with a chronic condition can get " panick attacks " !) Please keep us posted on what's happening with your daughter. I have to say that I don't know much about blood pressure, but I hope they get control over it. Has she been put on any meds that might have counter reacted with the Valium? That was the only thing that popped into my mind when I read that it had had the opposite effect on her. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen...That sure sounds awful with your daughter. She doesn't need to be in such pain. I've been having headaches for over 2-3 years. Some are mild then others. I've been on Depakote for a long time and my neurologist changed it recently to Neurontin. I have'nt seen any affects yet. There are so many drugs out there for headaches. I hope your daughter gets the results soon from the MRI. Well best of luck to you and your daughter. Guest guest
Kathleen, Is your daughter now on blood pressure medication? Are there any problems with that since she is so young? Hopefully the tests will come back as negative or with something they found that they can fix so she can be good as new. When I was her age [actually beginning a little earlier] I had the same thing. Turned out it was glandular fever [that's somewhere between mono and rheumatic fever]. I was sick for a long, long time. It was not diagnosed properly until I was in the 7th grade. The difference with my problems and your daughter is that I had no problems with blood pressure [and still don't]. Does she ever use the computer? If she has her own screen name, I'll send a card directly to her; or, I can send it to her via your screen name. Both of you will be in my thoughts and prayers. And, please keep us posted on the tests and how she is doing. {{{And Pain-Free Wishes}}} Carol ICQ#61162277 " In the little decisions of life, use your mind; in the big decisions, use your heart. Guest guest
Hi and everyone else, Thank you for all of your concerns and kind thoughts. No, she is not on any medication at this time, except for pain which is Tylenol and Codeine syrup. We have an appointment this week to go over the MRI results. My guess is we will be sent to San Francisco for them to run a complete MRI with contrast. I'm thinking that I should ask for that. I'm really not feeling very good about this DR's office. It's hard to know what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kathleen in California

Guest guest
Joe- I get severe migraines here and there. I immediately take two Midrin (migraine meds) and hope and pray. Then take one every hour after that if it persists. Good luck and see if you can get something similar--they really suck!! Hope you feel better. ________________________________ From: Joe Faulk Sent: Mon 1/24/2005 11:52 AM To: Stillsdisease Subject: Anyone get the number of that truck? Just wondering if anyone got the number of the truck that ran over me last night!!! Holy cow was I sick. High temp, body aches and chills plus terrible headache. Boy was I miserable. Finally temp went down around 4 in the morning and I was able to sleep. Feel hungover today. Hate when I flare like that! Good thing I take all those meds that are supposed to prevent a flare (yeah right!) I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I also wanted to know if any of y'all experience terrible headaches with pressure behind the eyes? I can take the exetreme chills and fever if my head wouldn't hurt so much. Anyway, thanks for listening. Guest guest
I tried a chiropractor as a teenager and after that will never go back to one. It was a very painful experience for me and it didn't seem at the time to improve anything. However, my mother went to one for years and loved it's results. Guest guest
My hubby cured his chronic migranes (like 2 or 3 times a week) with one trip to the chiropractor. Seems he had a water skiing accident 15 years before and his whole neck was wacked out. He still gets them 2 or 3 times a year but not like the 100+ times a year he used to have. I have a great resource for this kind of stuff as long as you are into kind of woo woo things. If you go to the website www.emofree.com you will learn all about EFT. Any of you who follow the mercola site will have heard about this as well. I used to be an NLP practitioner in another life (LOL now I am just a shepherd and goatherd) and use this successfully with clients with many strange things including chronic migranes. It is worth it just to sign up for the e-newsletter to see what amazing things folks are doing with this. For those with a yen to learn it the dvd set is great. I have three different sets of his work. Absolutely amazing! Aliza

Guest guest
I have a wonderful chiropractor and I have to see him next week. Tilling, shoveling cow poo and planting (just so something can eat down my lettuce and broccoli - ARGGGGG) has knocked my neck and back out of whack and I really need to be re-aligned. Then, my headaches will stop and neck and back aches will be manageable. K.C. Re: Headaches My hubby cured his chronic migranes (like 2 or 3 times a week) with one trip to the chiropractor. Guest guest
The only thing I know of that can cause persistent headaches is MSG. MSG is a natural occurring thing, but it is overused and put into almost everything and even in things you would never figure on. I found out that the words "natural flavors" can even be MSG. I know of others, but can't think of them right now (More Ginko please). I find when tests like that are conducted, they almost always test for all the chemicals that are most common in all the foods we eat. They never test for the hormones and chemicals in milk, just the milk itself. But, that would take years to test for since even the air is filled with chemicals these days. Not all chiropractors are bad and not all are good. It's a search and test type of thing. Once you find one that is good, you will wonder why you went without for so long. The old timers are rough and painful (just what I've experienced), while the younger ones know you don't have to have hard adjustments in order to correct the alignment. I hope you find the thing that will fix your headaches. K.C. Re: Re: Headaches I tried a chiropractor as a teenager and after that will never go back to one. Guest guest
Ya know I just cannot understand getting a flu shot while on Tx. It specifically states on the vaccine that its use is contradicted for immune disorders. What immune system do I have??? Practically none. I was am going back and forth on a flu shot. I seriously doubt I'll get one at this point. Only if Mayo forces me too I did grudgingly get all the other vaccines they recommended but I drew the line at a flu and tetnus vaccine. Guest guest
When I was on tx I had real bad headache and I think it is a very common side effect of the riba . I took shots and pills of imitrex and it really helped . Also getting a good nights sleep will help prevent head aches along with drinking enough fluids .
