The Brooklyn Autism Center (BAC) is an elementary school serving children five through eleven years old, utilizing behavioral strategies to address the specific needs and challenges of children with Autism. We are dedicated to providing quality comprehensive programming that will assist our learners in developing both their academic and social skills to their fullest potential. Brooklyn Autism Center Foundation: The BAC foundation is a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to servicing the autism community through education, support groups, fundraising and community outreach. Our Program: BAC will be comprised of a self-contained classroom supporting six students, each with one-on-one supervision from a qualified teaching assistant and supervised by a head teacher with a masters level degree in Special Education. All assistants have bachelors degrees in a related field and have Completed our extensive training program. Head teachers have extensive behavioral training and several years of experience working with children with Autism. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst on staff will oversee the classroom and all aspects of programming and ensure the quality of teaching procedures and effective day-to-day goal keeping and objectives. All program decisions are data driven. Outreach and On-going support for our families: At BAC, we believe family support is key to successfully transitioning our students into mainstream settings. We will provide support groups for parents and siblings, as well as training in Applied Behavior Analysis. We will offer teaching opportunities to train parents how to support independence and success in their children. At BAC, we know that families play the most significant role in the success of their children and we are committed to empowering them through follow-up, training and on-going support.
