Dear Advocates, Friends, and Listserv-Mates:

I'm running for a seat on Tuesday, November 6th. for East Detroit

Public Schools Board of Education in Eastpointe. I would to ask for

your SUPPORT and VOTE! Please spread the word to all within East

Detroit Public Schools District.

It is important for parents with special needs children within EDPS

to come out and vote. Have your family and friends also vote on

November 6th for Sandy McMurray. I would like to be the VOICE for

all students with disabilities in EDPS.

Remember... if your child is currently full-time in a MISD Center

Base Program, your VOTE still COUNTS! East Detroit Public Schools is

still responsible for your students' needs and IEPs.

VOTE FOR CHANGE!... HAVE A VOICE!..... SPREAD THE WORD!..... VOTE

MCMURRAY!

Sincerely,

Sandy McMurray

Here is my bio included in the G & C News - Eastsider local paper:

Lynn McMurray

Age: 45

Occupation: Mother, Full-Time Student, Disability Advocate

http://www.autismarts.com , Minister, and former employee of

Hospice of South-East Michigan.

Municipality of residence: Eastpointe - East Detroit Public Schools

For how long: 11 + years

Previously held elected offices: None.

Education: Currently working toward a psychology degree with a minor

in sociology and/or anthropology. I'm very interested in all

behavioral, social, and cultural sciences.

Top 3 goals: 1.) To support the 515 + students within EDPS with

special needs and their families under IDEA (Individuals with

Disabilities Education Act) and their IEP (Individual Education

Process) with administration. To develop sub-committees comprised of

groups of teachers, parents, and students with disabilities to meet

monthly with the Board of Education members on issues related

specifically to IDEA and IEPs.

2). To ensure the process is followed fully in the students' IEP in

an non-confrontational manner and according to state andfederall

guidelines. Building trust and support for students, families, and

teachers. Dramatically saving the District the burden of unnecessary

spending of hundreds-of-thousands of dollars in " individual cases "

called during due process hearings for non-compliance to IEPs.

3). Place federal and state laws on disability issues on EDPS Web

site further saving unwanted, wasteful spending to the District.
