Guest guest
I've been pondering this also , for quite awhile now. I had the flu shot last yr, and low and behold, I have super antibodies. I'm not saying that I didn't have them before then, I don't know how high they would have been, but they are now in the thousands. My mistake was this----at a time that I changed my thyroid med to Armour and was probably at my worst most down thyroid, so to speak, I went ahead and had the flu shot in late October. I did get the flu later on, at least, I believe it was the flu, and in March of this yr, I got the antibodies run. Now I had been on thyroid meds for 10 yrs before that, and was already still chronically undertreated/wrong treatment, so that certainly could have contributed, no doubt, but I still am thinking that I'm going to heed the warnings about people with autoimmune diseases NOT having vaccines, this year, and I'm going to opt NOT to have the flu shot. I believe that all these vaccines mobilize our already " dumb " and " blind " T Killer cells (from everything I've read), because of the lack of an enzyme that causes the T cells to normally recognize and translate " friend " from " enemy " . It's not that we don't have a good immune system. On the contrary, probably MOST of us at one time had some of the most marvelous responsive immune systems in the entire world. This is what is hard for people to understand, this thing about the immune system. People with autoimmune disease, despite popular belief, have VERY mobilized immune systems, it's just that it is a very MISGUIDED one. We usually have T killer cells that could clean up an entire stadium, if it recognized " everyone " as the enemy, which is exactly what our immune systems do, so, therefore, the vaccines make it worse. These foreign invaders cause it to aggitate and mobilize even more, but it's so misdirected, not recognizing " self " as " friendly " , that it attacks everything in site. I also believe that this is the root basis of why Hashi's people also should consume very little iodine, as it agitates the antibodies and makes them do a harder attack on the thyroid, at least while the antibodies do exist. I believe that if a person with Hashi's takes enough thyroid hormone, there is a possibility that these antibodies may be low or won't be there at some point, but I believe there are many vexors for their existence, vaccines being one of them. BTW, I work in a healthcare facility, so this is a REAL worry for me. Most every patient in our facility, though, has had the flu shot, and, if it works on them, maybe my main worry is the visitors that come in. I think it better that I don't have it at this point. I'm praying that the Armour is building my resistance more, though I AM riddled with allergies. flu shot > > i was reading the flu shot guidelines from the CDC > about who should get a flu shot, and they mention > adults and children with a chronic illness. the > examples they give are heart disease, diabetes, > asthma, cancers, HIV/AIDS, etc. so, here's my > question: is my hashimoto's thyroiditis a chronic > illness? i've had a flu shot the last two years, and > i'm concerned about not having one this year. my fear > is that my immune system is already wigged out, as > evidence by the autoimmune disease, and will i be able > to fight off the flu as sick as i am right now? i'm > especially concerned when i remember what i read about > hashi's patients reporting more infections. > > thougths? Guest guest
Most doctors insist on flu and pneumonia shots but there are some that believe that the vaccines will only compromise an already compromised immune system. I have never had a flu shot. Chris That's got to be a first, I'd be interested in hearing others thoughts on that, as well.. I didn't bother the last 2 years as the strain they had created was not even the correct one, but I did get a pneumonia vaccine and Hep A and Hep B vaccines are also highly recommended. If he disagrees with that, as well, I woud check with the CDC and also find a new doctor.. SheenaPsssst...Have you heard the news? Guest guest
That's for sure! We are all different! I think that it should be up to the individual whether to get it or not, too. chris Even when I was on treatment many at work around me had the flu and I did not get it. Everyone is different.
