If ultimately adopted after the public comment period, these new regulations would provide you with strong legal and regulatory protection from the pressure to perform or refer for abortions … prescribe abortifacients and other controversial drugs … participate in or refer for assisted suicide … and other actions you deem contrary to your professional ethical convictions. For doctors who consider oral contraceptives as potentially abortifacient, these regulations would protect them from coercion to violate their conscience by prescribing such meds. The regulations are all about a doctor's right of conscience in his practice of medicine. (To get a copy of the regulations as we currently have them, hit " reply " and write " HHS regs. " We will send.) On July 24, Fellows of ACOG received an urgent email from ACOG President Kirkpatrick. The contents: Join Our Fight Against New Federal Proposal Redefines Many Contraceptives as Abortions New Department of Health and Human Services draft regulations would severely restrict women's access to safe and legal methods of preventing unwanted pregnancies by redefining abortion to include even basic methods of birth control. Act today to oppose these regulations. Contact Secretary Leavitt of Health and Human Services through ACOG's Legislative Action Center. One would expect ACOG officials read and understand English. The HHS regulations do not attempt to redefine anything. They attempt to protect doctors' conscience rights. It would seem that the ACOG Urgent Letter is a deliberate distortion, a purposeful perversion of the HHS intent, calculated to produce a maximum response from their Fellows. As we have noted, the ACOG agenda regarding our rights of conscience is clear: we are only acceptable if we agree with the ACOG conscience convictions. More than ever, HHS Secretary Leavitt needs to hear from you on this issue. Do you support his attempt to protect our conscience rights? Write him and tell him so! Write to Sec. Leavitt, The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, & #8232;200 Independence Avenue, S.W. & #8232;Washington, D.C. 20201. Guest guest
And we're somehow shocked that ACOG is engaging in a disinformation campaign? -- Wood Row Birth and Baby Supply *doula services, baby carriers, and natural family planning* ville, FL
Guest guest
I couldn't help thinking as I read the ACOG urgent letter clip that their campaign could actually backfire in the long run. How many doctors have left unexamined the evidence that the pill is aborifacient at times? If they actually have to come out and deny it, they will at least have to think about it rather than suppress or ignore the evidence mentally. This provides an opportunity for conscience to do its work, hopefully their's are still alive. P X a Johannes > > > > > > **************Get fantasy football with free live scoring.
