Guest guest
Dan Rossignol, MD just completed a study on HBOT that proves it's effectiveness in autism. I beleive it's available on the ARI website right now. www.autism.com ARI has collected over 25,000 surveys from parents on what works for their children. Nearly 70% of the parents stated that putting their child on a GFCF diet (or Specific Carbohydrate diet) helped. http://www.autism.com/treatable/form34qr.htm There's a new study from the University of Ontario that was done recently on autism and dietary issues. Hard to argue with university science http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2007/09/27/autism-study.html you might want to also look at the free interviews from Jepson, MD, and Doreen Granpeesheh, BCBA on the site. There's lots of footage from thje DAN! conferences- all free to watch. Dr Jepson authored the book " Changing the course of Autism " . His interview is on the home page- right hand side. Do a search for Granpeesheh's videos- they are on there. Granpeesheh runs the very successful CARD clinics- Center for Autism and Releated disorders. http://www.centerforautism.com/ Jepson is one of the physicians on the team at Thoughtful House www.thoughtfulhouse.org The one thing that has always bothered me is BCBA's who refuse to validate autism as a whole body illness, most often with gut damage- sometimes severe. Those who think biomedical interventions and special diets are snake oil gotta look at the presentation here on gut conditions found in kids with ASD- Krigsman's presentation for instance: http://www.thoughtfulhouse.org/conference-presentations.htm and I am a firm beleiver in ABA- so long as it's used in addition to medical treatments for autism- and I do not mean psych meds, I mean actual treatments for the underlying causes of the autism symptoms. When kids have behaviours, you have to first rule out illness, pain or deficiencies before you assume it's " just autism " there's a recent TV interview on CBS of Martha Herbert, MD, PhD from Harvard, Mass General- you may be interested in: http://www.cbc.ca/clips/mov/autism-gut-brain-070927.mov Another very good article that was in Discover magazine last April that explains autism: http://discovermagazine.com/2007/apr/autism-it2019s-not-just-in-the-head The world was once thought to be flat. Ulcers were once thought to be caused by stress Autism was once thought to be caused by refrigerator moms all these things were proven wrong. -Tami WARNING!! Flu shots can cause chronic fatigue syndrome, brain injury, restless legs, and many other disorders including permanent immune system damage. 90% of this year's flu shots contain 25 mcg of mercury- 4 times the safety limits set by our own EPA for the average adult. Pregnant women and infants are at far greater risk. Mercury can cause autism. For more information see www.safeminds.org
