Guest guest
Good for you Kim. Mmmm, KFC still sounds good. I got food poisoning from a Krispy Kreme donut once and haven't been tempted by one since. You've probably found this out already, but some hospitals will sponsor you in a nursing program. They will pay your tuition, provide a work place while you are in school and expect you to work for them for X number of years following your graduation. It's helped a few of my friends out. > > Well, today I decided to treat my kids and me to a small bucket of chicken from KFC. Hadn't eaten KFC in ... so long that i can't remember when we last got it. > > Used to be that my intestines didn't like it, and it's just plain not healthy. But it was always a comfort food for me, when I'm sad, stressed, worried, etc. > > Well .... comfort food no more. I choked down one piece of chicken, couldn't eat anymore ....... most of the evening I'd been feeling sick to my stomach. Not nauseous as from food poisoning, but sick from the grease and the fat. > > Seems my stomach just can't handle this type of junk food anymore. > > That's a good thing ... just wish I could not have bought it at all. > > I dumped the rest in the trash. My 9yo felt sick but she ate more of it. My little one ate a piece but seemed okay (will see how her diapers are tomorrow). > > " In other news " .... dealt with a major disappointment this evening when I learned that the school I hoped to attend for CNA training ... discontinued the program. There are no other local schools offering this training, so unless my little one's agency has better information than what I found - CNA training is out. The social worker suggested becoming a home health aide, which would still allow me to work with the elderly in a nursing capacity, so I'll see if she has any leads. > > Otherwise, I may have to 'bite the bullet' and consider ford Hospital's School of Nursing - they offer a nursing diploma for a 33-month program. It's a lot more work and more intensive than I had hoped for, but it would still be a way in and possibly would allow me to work while studying to become an LPN. > > I hope to visit the school soon to find out 'in person' what my options are. Would be tough schedule-wise and time/money, but they have options, and they also have their curriculum listed, which would allow me to download podcasts from other universities to start learning now on the tougher subjects. > > At least I didn't grab the bag of potato chips this time after this news, though I was still feeling sick from the yucky fried chicken! > > > Kim > > Secretary, Holy Terrors S.T.A.R.S. > http://www.freewebs.com/holyterrorstars > > Kim's Handmade ries > http://kimsrosaries.webs.com > > --------------------------------- > Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
KFC was my number 1 comfort food for a long long time, but this past year I found that my body had a horrible time digesting it, and it seemed like it took a good 12 hours or more to get it out of my stomach where I wouldn't be burping from it! It was so uncomfortable that I don't think of it as comfort food anymore!! It's a good thing when our body tells us " No more of that food, please! " talks about checking with ourselves on how that food makes us feel after time, and that has been a really good thought for me. Kim, I pray the rosary also, and I am a real believer that, when God closes a door he opens a window. If that program you were planning on is no longer available, it wasn't the right one for you. I am certain the right opportunity will show up for you soon. Michele > > > > Well, today I decided to treat my kids and me to a small bucket of > chicken from KFC. Guest guest
Hi , Yes - ford Hospital (Philadelphia) offers this option at their School of Nursing. I looked at their site last night. It's the option I'm counting on now. You have to commit to 3-years after graduation for their tuition-forgiveness program, plus maintain at least a 3.3 GPA. I graduated Holy Family College with a 3.69, but that was in business -- but I'm hoping to do the same with ford. I kind of wish there was a better hospital nearby that I could do a work-study with, but ford is the only teaching hospital near me that I'm aware of. Today I plan to download a podcast or two in biochemistry and bioscience to get started. I can understand the material just fine, but the presentation of it has given me trouble in the past. This way, I can get a " jump start " on studying. I also plan to visit the school to get more information about tuition-forgiveness. I wouldn't be able to start until at least next year, but I'm planning on this now. Thanks for mentioning it - good to know that it worked for your friends! wrote: You've probably found this out already, but some hospitals will sponsor you in a nursing program. Guest guest
Michele, I agree with you on the food, and also on the saying that when God closes a door, He opens a window That was my feeling exactly last night upon learning that the CNA program was no longer an option. ChildLink may send me info that I didn't know about, but I'm not expecting this now. I know that CNA would be low-paying work with a high-turnover rate, but I felt it would be a steady job that I could handle, and also help people with, while giving me an option to go farther through a hospital. I am praying about it .... while also doing my own legwork again, LOL!!! I'm not one to " sit still " and wait for things to happen, I need to make things happen for myself -- while praying for guidance and direction along the way I often end up at the right place by a very circuitous route that seemed to be heading in a different direction, until it whirls me around and dumps me where I need to be Thanks, Michele!
