Guest guest
Well ... I may have opened my own door today I had e-mailed a dear Elder friend from a Native American organization I'm affiliated with, and he also gave me some good counsel. My little one fell asleep in the car this afternoon while picking up my 9yo from school, so I decided to take a drive to ford Hospital to see where the nursing school is, and maybe talk to a staff person and get some info. I did all that and more. Got lots of info, found out their typical student is in her 30s, with young children and a job, looking to change careers and needing flexibility. I also found out .... an affiliated school operates in their building -- for Nurse's Aide training They gave me a flyer with info and a class schedule -- a 5-1/2 week course of evening classes including lab and clinicals, job placement assistance, and home health certification. I don't know how they include all of that in a 5-1/2 week course, but there was a physical office, job postings, and staff people knowing about the program, and an ongoing course schedule -- that was good enough for me!!! Both schools give me options. My next move is to schedule an appt with the administrator of the CNA program to get the details. Their course schedule runs every couple of weeks, so getting placement shouldn't be a problem.
