Guest guest
This is the first time I have blogged. Always wondered what the fuss was all about. I do recall hearing somewhere that people who were on blogs regarding healing body and weight issues were getting many benefits. I listened to 's podcasts over Xmas and found it very grounding amidst the business. In the eighties I was introduced to the idea that food was not the only 'fuel'that was causing a weight gain. I even participated in a workshop that was pretty much based on Geneen Roth's book " Feeding the Hungry Heart " also books by others " Fat is a Feminist Issue " and " Eating Awareness Training " . I remember that after the workshop a group of us gathered but soon it all seemed to disintegrate. I have never forgot that experience. I had never experienced that level of compassion, honesty, kindness and eating great food without guilt. Consequently I have never been able to look at a diet the same way even though I keep going back to WW. I realize now that gaining a new perspective is only the first step. And it can be painful in that the same behaviors which I still insist on doing are now a bit sour. It was much like cracking that outer shell on a onion and then peeling the next layers which are a combination of the old and new never exposed. I have used the checking in with hunger level and trying to check in with what I really want to eat. In the beginning it took some effort as I am not very in the now when it comes to food and eating. It has been a asset to being present as food for me is one of the many weapons of mass distraction in my bag.
