PLEASE RSVP by: Friday, February 27th DESCRIPTION: WE ALL UNDERSTAND THAT PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM HAVE MANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THEIR CHILDREN. THESE QUESTIONS MAY INCLUDE THEIR CHILD’S COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS, CURRENT CURRICULUM IN SCHOOL OR AT HOME, SCHOOL PLACEMENT, TOILETING, BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS, INTERACTIONS WITH SIBLINGS, ISSUES WITH MOTIVATION AND COMPLIANCE AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS.  GOAL: THE GOAL OF THIS SESSION IS FOR PARTICIPANTS TO DISCUSS ISSUES AND EXCHANGE FRESH IDEAS IN A PERSONAL SETTING.  ABOUT MR. CEPEDA: Ray Cepeda, BCaBA is an independent behavior/program consultant for children with autistic spectrum disorders and provides behavior analytic services to many families in New York, New Jersey and Arizona. Mr. Cepeda gained his initial experience under the tutelage of consultants trained by Dr. O. Ivar Lovaas. After being hired by the Institute, he became a Workshop Leader and was subsequently promoted to Clinic Supervisor for the Lovaas Institute’s Cherry Hill, NJ site. During his time with the Lovaas Institute Mr. Cepeda was instrumental in establishing a Lovaas Institute satellite office in South Orange, NJ where he supervised and trained a number of ABA therapists to implement the Lovaas model of applied behavior analysis. He has had over fifteen years experience supervising home-based programs, functioning in administrative roles in schools that specialize in the education and treatment of children with autism, consulting to school-based programs, integrating and mainstreaming learners with autism into typical learning environments, training parents, and speaking on topics regarding the use of behavior analytic teaching methodologies and program individualization for children with autism. Mr. Cepeda also sits on the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board for the Brooklyn Autism Center Academy in Brooklyn, New York and is a member of the Human Rights Committee for the New York Center for Autism Charter School in New York, NY.
