Participants in this workshop will learn: „Ï Familiarity with differing terminology related to sensory processing disorder „Ï Introduction to most current research; work to include as a primary diagnosis in DSM-V „Ï Discussion regarding various sensory processing channels and basic neurophysiological variations that can impact expressed behaviors of a child „Ï Discussion of red flags and impact of sensory processing/modulation challenges on each differing realm of development: cognition, language, motor skills, social-emotional „Ï Acquisition of both home and clinic based intervention suggestions that may be helpful in development of an individually tailored treatment plan Presenter: Alvarado is a licensed occupational therapist who has been working with children with sensory processing challenges for 9 years in both clinical and home-based environments. She is currently working toward her Ph.D. in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Developmental Delay through the graduate program of the Interdisciplinary Council of Development and Learning and she is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Texas Woman & #700;s University. has received sensory integrative training from world-renowned occupational therapists Georgia DeGangi, Ph.D. and Rosemary White, OTR.
