August 3-7, 2009 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Registration fee: $1,000. Limited to 20 attendees. Location: Wayman Learning Center, Plano, TX. Summer Institute is a week-long training opportunity for educators and other professionals/paraprofessionals who teach children with autism spectrum disorders and/or other developmental disabilities. Focus is on evidence-based procedures derived from the scientific research literature of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Summer Institute is a combination of lecture, accompanied by videos and hands-on activities, and direct observation of instruction at WLC (instructors & children). Summer Institute will include the following topics: Analyzing and Reducing Problem Behaviors, Including recording and graphing data, FBA's and BIP's, Teaching Procedures, Creating & Organizing Instructional Materials, Increasing Instructional Control, Teaching Mands, Selecting a Communication System, Teaching Signs as Mands, Criterion-referenced Assessment, Writing Measurable and Observable IEP Goals, Toilet Training. The daily schedule is 8:30 to 4:45 with one hour and fifteen minutes for lunch. Lunch is on your own. Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided. CEU's: 35 hours for certified teachers. Participants must attend the whole week in order to receive credit for attendance.
