THE ABCs of PDDs Presented by: Autism and Behavioral Consulting WHAT: This workshop is designed for professionals who encounter individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) through their line of work. It will provide an overview of the ASDs as well as in-depth information on the most common ASDs. Additionally, this workshop will provide participants with information on interacting with individuals with ASDs to make interactions as successful for both parties as possible. The workshop will increase the participants' knowledge of the characteristics of ASDs as well as popular treatment options through the use of video clips and hands-on demonstration. Diagnostic information will be touched on, and participants will be provided with resources for diagnostic and treatment options. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This workshop is geared toward anyone who wants more information about autism and the other Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDDs). It is especially useful for teachers, therapists, and other professionals who encounter autism spectrum disorders in their day-to-day work, as well as parents of newly-diagnosed individuals who want to better understand what their child is going through. WHEN: Saturday, February 6, 2010 10am-noon WHERE: Pathways Church and Ministry Center; 2601 Clays Mill Rd., Lexington, KY COST (includes workshop materials and refreshments): Family rate: $25/person Professional rate: $35/person THE PRESENTER: Mrs. is a former teacher who has dedicated her life to improving the lives of individuals with autism and other disabilities working as an Applied Behavior Analyst. She has a bachelor's degree in Special Education with a focus on Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis from Bowling Green State University. She is currently pursing a master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and her BCBA (board certification). Meghan has been working with individuals of all ages on all levels of the spectrum for over 14 years and taught at an ABA-based school for two years prior to beginning working as an in-home consultant and therapist. Meghan recently has opened 3 therapy centers for children with autism and developmental disabilities in Ohio and Kentucky. Meghan has recently started a ministry for children and adults with disabilities at Pathways church.
