Guest guest
Your epiphany is a lesson to parents everywhere. First, at the appropriate ability level, let the child select how much food she wants. Then let her eat until she is satisfied - no more " eat until your plate is clean. " Alot of us were taught to eat until we were stuffed, and now we are having to undo that hard-wired behavior. It's not just for kids either. Try it out on yourself. Dinner is my hardest meal. Because I will try to gyp myself with a small serving and then keep grazing all night. I have been making as much food as I feel I want on the first round, and this has decreased my grazing. What if you put our all your grazing food on a plate(s) on the first go around. I find I quit the mindless, tuned-out, emotionally painful one mouthful at a time grazing when I am satisifed on the first round. Some food for thought if it helps anyone.
