We've had a great response to this workshop and seating is limited. DAFEAT is sponsoring a workshop titled " Establishing Instructional Control " on Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Dayton, OH. The information is below. Saturday, January 23, 2010, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (lunch on your own) Workshop with Dr. Carl Sundberg Location: The Children's Medical Center of Dayton One Children's Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404, Auditorium (Lower Level) Sponsored by Vectren and The Children's Medical Center of Dayton This workshop will focus on: · the use of behavioral techniques to maximize the quality of teaching. · analyzing problem behaviors that typically inhibit effective instruction. · how to create a more optimal teaching situation. · introducing participants to Verbal Behavior techniques necessary to addressing primary language needs. · how to get the student to come to you willingly and excited to learn! After this workshop participants will. · have a better understanding of how to motivate the student to learn. · be able to better identify and alter reinforcers that are maintaining interfering behaviors. · learn the importance of identifying and teaching replacement behaviors. · be able to conduct a functional assessment of negative behaviors. · learn to use the procedures of behavior analysis including shaping, differential reinforcement, extinction, and contriving motivation operations. · have a better understanding of the 3 primary categories of negative behaviors. This seminar is free for DAFEAT members. Cost for non-members is $36 and includes a year-long DAFEAT membership. For more information email CEUs @ dafeat.org. About Dr. Sundberg. Carl T. Sundberg, Ph.D., BCBA-D is the director of the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism (BACA), located in Fishers, Indiana. He received his doctorate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University under the direction of Dr. Jack . Dr. Sundberg utilizes B.F. Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior within the framework of applied behavior analysis to teach children with language and social deficits. As a graduate student, he taught behavior analysis at Western Michigan University for 7 years. Dr. Sundberg has publications in The Analysis of Verbal Behavior and A Collection of Reprints on Verbal Behavior. Since 1996 Dr. Sundberg has assessed and worked with more than 400 children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders and has worked with over 150 families. In addition to private consulting, Dr. Sundberg also works with school districts and speaks at conferences across the nation. Additionally, he teaches Verbal Behavior at Ball State University and is the Vice President of the Indiana Association for Behavior Analysis.
