Guest guest
Melody That Korean seaweed is a great favorite in my house. I buy a different brand at the Asian market. It is the Korean version of chips. You can use the seaweed sheets to roll rice in or just veggies and dip the roll in some kind of sauce We use olive and coconut soaps in our house exclusively because regular soap is animal derived. It us great stuff/ does not dry out your skin, Your chia pudding video link did not work n Dr. Rollings NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 www.DrnRollings.com Sent from my iPhone > Well, Melody went to the Health Store today. We'll see in about an hour. I'll make another video. I will admit one thing. I tasted it. Tasted like vanilla flavored SOMETHING OR OTHER. It was good. Not pudding, but if this thing turns into pudding, it's a keeper. Will update. Guest guest
No, Peggy. I had my co-op bulk buy me 25 lbs from their distributor, and the box says Sunny Gem, LLC, and they are out of California. The distributor just happened to neglect to mention that they were pasteurized, because at that time in CA, all almonds had to be pasteurized, (EW says that law has since been revoked) - and they could say they were raw organic, even though pasteurized. So, I'll use them for almond milk  now that the weather is getting pretty, I can do almond milk every day, if I wish (a function of being off the grid  with no sun, it's best to not use electric and drain the batteries, if you can avoid it. I only wash when the sun is out bright on the solar panels or the generator is going. I hang my clothes out to dry, mostly). Boy, I'm learning a lot about gardening this year  my first year (2 years ago) I knew nothing. This year it's a bit better  The soil here is good, but very rocky, so I've got raised beds. And because it's WA state with LOTS of rain, things grow like  well  weeds, LOL. My biggest thing this year was replanting the " volunteers " - I had a mesculin mix that seeded a whole bed  had a ton of kale and also chard. All that had to be moved, since I was raising the beds from 6 " to 12 " (approx) - and I just separated out the beets  the kale and chard seem to be doing beautifully. The additional soil was partly garden ready from the local worm farm, and Dr. Earth's. (I went to Dr. Earth's when I got tendonitis in both elbows from trying to shovel the garden ready topsoil.) So, your husband is right (in my limited experience) - the plants look really wilted when you first transplant (particularly if you transplant and the plants weren't in those little plastic plant thingies). But if you keep them wet, or at least damp, they recover and go great guns. I'm going to make some of 's " tea " for my plants  I have the seaweed from an oriental store  just not sure what to put it in after I'm done whizzing it up. Guest guest
Peggy, When transplanting, always do it late in the evening so the plant has all night to recover. Make sure that its well watered and give it shade for a couple of days to keep it from full sun. The cardboard rolls might get too hot because they are so small and the plant is closed in. ew Re: Re: Chia article >>>>> > >> > >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > Melody >>>>>>> > >>> > > I think you will be please when you get it to the right >>>>>>> consistency >>>>>>> > >>> > > It reminds me a lot of tapioca pudding my Mom used to make. >>>>>>> > >>> > > Keep experimenting and keep us posted >>>>>>> > >>> > > n >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > Dr. Rollings >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 >>>>>>> > >>> > > www.DrnRollings.com >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > Sent from my iPad >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > On Jun 23, 2011, at 11:02 AM, " Melody " < eliz7212%2540verizon.net >>>>>>> <mailto:eliz7212%40verizon.net> >>>>> > >>> <mailto:eliz7212%40verizon.net> >>>>>>> > >>> > > <mailto:eliz7212%40verizon.net> > wrote: >>>>>>> > >>> > > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > n: >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > While it was a bit thicker this morning (I added one tablespoon >> > last >>>>>>>>> > >>>> > >> night), I believe you are correct that I need to add MORE >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > So just now I added 1/3 of a cup of chis seeds. Guest guest
EW You should be proud of me. Today I went into my front (don't know what you call the place where bushes and weeds are) but it's right in front of my house surrounded by rails. They have mini trees and little plants here and there. But there were lots of weeds. My landlord was trying to pull out some that were all the way in the back. I hopped in, I gathered them up, I said 'go and get the rake " , he came back with the rake and I did the whole front of my house. He then went in the back of his yard and got some basil plants and planted them for me in the garden box on the other side of the front of my house. I then watered them and all summer long I will have fresh basil. But the funny part was when I got down to pull up the weeds and all I saw were bugs and ants and ANTS, and I said " oh my god " . You know I hate working in dirt and I hate bugs. But I'm proud of myself. I got all dirty, and when I finished I jumped in the shower. I was never so glad to be clean. I think I was made for sprouting and not for gardening. but hey, I DID IT!!! LOL, melody. --
Guest guest
The proper ratio of chia is 1 (chia) to 9 (liquid). Try putting some gelled chia, organic cocoa powder, chopped: dates, walnuts, figs, almonds, your favorite sweetener and organic raisins. Make it sticky and clumpy then shape, i use teaspoon and push it off onto the plate.) Freeze. Great snack. > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > Found on the vegnews website: > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > http://www.vegnews.com/web/articles/page.do?pageId=3391 & catId=7 > > >> > > > > > >> > > > n > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > Dr. Rollings > > >> > > > > > >> > > > NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 > > >> > > > www.DrnRollings.com > > >> > > > > > >> > > > Sent from my iPad > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > >> > > > >> >

Guest guest
Hi everybody. I made the proper Chia Pudding. It gelled, it tasted the way it was supposed to taste. I liked it. Alan, on the other hand, hated it and won't go near it. My next experiment will be pudding made with Stevia. I have the recipe off of the internet. Oh, how long is this Chia pudding good for (in the fridge?) A few days I hope. Guest guest
Thanks, Pam. I guess my memory was faulty as I thought it was you who had mentioned the almond vendor in Northern CA. EW is correct about the pasteurization of almonds. Another knee-jerk reaction that turned out not to be such a great idea.  I'm wishing I had paid more attention to my Dad during the years he had garden. I'm finding out I'm not much good at it - yesterday I spent about two hours filling up my City Picker with various potting soils I had purchased, trying to get something good. I couldn't get Dr. Earth potting mix, so I have a mix of 4 different kinds of potting " soil " , which I learned today isn't the same as potting " mix " , and the MIX is what I should have bought. I never saw anything in the stores labeled potting mix, so I'm doing the best I can. I did find Dr. Earth all purpose fertilizer, and I made two trenches in the grow box and put a total of 2 C of fertilizer in them. I plan to have 3 rows of veggies - just hope something will grow. I have another box to set up, and also a couple of older Earth Boxes that should have the soil freshened up. Lifting those heavy bags is too much for me anymore. It looks so easy, but at 74, I'm finding my body responds with a lot of pain when I overdo or try to make it go in directions it no longer wants to! I find myself sitting in my lawn chair a lot! I'd love to have raised beds, but I'd still have to find the proper mix as our soil is mostly clay and needs a lot of amending to make anything grow. At least we have a lower level about 3' wide that I can stand on and do my container gardening at waist level (once the boxes are set up). That is a blessing for sure!  I have enough trouble trying to do all the things I want to without trying to live off the grid. I salute you for your effort, though. I love clothes dried on the line outdoors! We got termites in our patio cover posts, so I've lost my support for my clothesline. I loved it though. It's nice that you get plenty of rain (except for the missing sun on those days!) - that's another thing we have to supplement a lot. But I shouldn't complain - I know a lot of people would be very happy to be living in So. Cal. - and I love it, for the most part. If I could have someone doing all this work for me, it would be heaven on earth!  I think I'll try planting the seeds directly in my grow boxes instead of trying to start the plants in the Aerogarden first. I'm pretty sure that one thing I did wrong with the cukes is letting them get too big before putting them in the ground. If I do that again, I'll transplant when they are a lot smaller. Also, I might go a bit further afield to find the Dr. Earth potting mix. The place where I purchased it said they are getting a lot of positive reports from the Dr. Earth products they do carry, and will likely be expanding their line soon.  Happy gardening!  Peggy  ps...I'll be trying kale and beets, too. Hope I have as much success as you've had!       To: sproutpeople Sent: Thursday, June 23, 2011 5:33 PM Subject: Re: Re: Chia article  No, Peggy. Guest guest
Thanks, ew! I was hoping you'd chime in here with some words of wisdom. I transplanted the cukes late this afternoon after the sun was well " o'er the yardarm " and I put them in the shade next to the fence on the west side of the yard. I will take the cardboard off tomorrow. I hope the plants will be able to stand up by themselves by that time.  It's such a blessing to have you " close by " on the group!  You can see I need a lot of help, and I thank you heartily.  Peggy To: sproutpeople Sent: Thursday, June 23, 2011 5:48 PM Subject: Re: Re: Chia article  Peggy, When transplanting, always do it late in the evening so the plant has all night to recover. Guest guest
, a good place to check for items such as salt spoons would be www.shopgoodwill.com Also, if you have any thrift stores near you, spend some time looking around in there. One more place to look would be www.replacements.com  HTH! Guest guest
EW: (and everybody) Hi, just took my Flip and decided to show you the front area of my house. They won't plant any food plants, just other kind of plants. But I did get to have some basil. All the food plants are in the back. They share everything they grow so I get cukes, zucchini, lovely grapes growing from the vines (I'll get a video of them when they are done). Oh my god, the back of all the houses have these HUGE grapes growing from Trellises. And they also have 6 foot squashes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOY9QEROM6g Melody > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > Found on the vegnews website: > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.vegnews.com/web/articles/page.do?pageId=3391 & catId=7 > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > n > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > Dr. Rollings > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > www.DrnRollings.com > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > Sent from my iPad > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>> > >>>> > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>> > >>>> > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>> > >>> > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>> > >>> > > > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>> > >>> > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > removed] > >>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>> > >>> > > > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > > >>>>>>> > >>> > >
