Hi Sherry, Yes, it can take a long time before you get any symptoms - I've had it since 1969 & found out only because I asked to be tested. I had no symptoms at that time. The specialist I first saw ( a very good doctor) told me that I was lucky because a lot of people don't find out until "just it's too late" - some people don't get anything but fatigued until their liver is so damaged there's nothing much that can be done. I get so tired I don't get off of the couch for days at a time. No energy at all. I've always been an enthusiastic gardener but gave it up last year because I couldn't get up the energy to go out & plant or weed. I have memory lapses, I've lost days or forgotten what day it is. . always make a list before going shopping but I have been known to forget the damn list! One of our members ( no names Possum Flinger) got lost coming home from the supermarket! I have Restless Leg Syndrome as do quuite a few of us - whether or not they're connected, I don't know. I had to have all my teeth out 2 years ago, they were breaking off at the roots, my dentist said it probably had a lot to do with the side effects of a couple of meds - noone told me that if you get dry mouth you should try to keep your mouth moist or you can get gum disease & lose your teeth! I've lost interest in most things but that's assosciated with depression & I'm on anti-depressants now. Of course you'll find you may suffer from depression, you're not well! Most sick people get depressed. I've been on disability for three years now. I was fired from my last job because I couldn't show up for work on time - I couldn't sleep so when I did sleep I'd sleep through the alarm or I'd forget my schedule. One suggestion - Hep C + people get diabetes more often than the general population & diabetes can make you tired. Get yourself tested for diabetes. Also, get yourself a new doctor! This one has no idea about HCV. SuZieSherry Ulrich <brokerulrichsbcglobal (DOT) net> wrote: had to get a new doctor. Went to see him last week - he tells me that my fatigue, vision problems, etc ARE NOT because of the HEP C that there is something else wrong. Yet, all the doctors (3) that I had seen since Aug 06 say these are all side effects of HEP C. So my questions are is anyone else on the board experiencing what I am? I don't know what to think anymore. Have you found you cannot workHave you found that has affected your teethHave you found you have loss interest in things you used to enjoyHave you found that you maybe depressed or personality has changedHas your vision changedDo you ever feel disoriented or displaced (if you will)Do you feel like you could sleep, sleep sleepDo you have any problems with your legs? Well, I think that's enough for now. I am sure I will remember more that I have to ask- but right now that's all I can think of. Thank you so much for letting me post a STORY and thanks to all for listening. Sherry Next time I'm coming back as a cat Internal Virus Database is out-of-date.Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
A couple days ago I had 2 episodes in one day of that “where am I” feeling while driving on a normal route. That doesn’t happen very often any more since tx, but it still happens sometimes, but it doesn’t last as long. I, too, will always be on anti-depressants from now on. And ditto what Patty said about how this group got me through my fears and kept me strong thru the worst. That’s why I’m still here.
