Guest guest
I am writing for a friend who is not on the Me-List. My friend's teenage daughter repeats over and over, non stop. The only time she is quiet is when she is sleeping. She will talk to herself even if there is no one around her. Yesterday, she was taken to visit relatives. My friend gave an example of the repetitive conversation: meet uncle dan and gabe and to house. dan and gena meet at station.. we go to station for dan and gabe. But when we got to the station, she started in on cars. Grama has a black Escape, mom a Camry, grandpa takes grandmas escape. So starts the OCD on vehicles. What color mom's car, she continually asks questions and she knows the answers (if you ask her back, she can answer you.) Meds are Risperdal and topomax The only time she is near being quiet is when she is rocking in a recliner She has a large vocabulary but doesn't know how to carry on a conversation with anyone. She does fairly well in school. She is on a strict picture activity schedule and knows just what she is going to be doing every minute. Other than an intensive token system (with rocker as reinforcer, etc) & redirection, does anyone have any ideas on how to tackle this? Other meds that have been effective?
