Guest guest
In the " Discussion " section of a journal article (translation of which is due Monday AM, by the way :-o ) about a fluid and electrolyte disorder in a patient on two different diuretics as well as an antidepressant: " El SSIHAD es un diagnóstico de exclusión, basado en algunos criterios entre los cuales está la ausencia de diuréticos, lo que en este caso lo descarta, **sin perjuicio** de reconocer el rol de vasopresina en la patogenia del trastorno. " In English, I currently have " SIADH is a diagnosis of exclusion based on specific criteria, one of which is the absence of diuretics, which ruled it out in our case, without ?? of recognizing the role of vasopressin in the pathogenesis of the [patient's] disorder. " I'm not quite sure what we're trying to say here at the end about vasopressin -- that although the patient doesn't have SIADH by virtue of the fact that she's on diuretics (so by definition she doesn't have it), vasopressin (ADH) could still have played a role in her fluid and electrolyte disorder? And does anybody want to clean up my sentence for me :-) ?? Any help appreciated, Marla -- Marla J.F. O'Neill, M.D. Medical Translation & Editing French/Spanish/Italian>English mailto:mjfoneill@...
