URGENT:  We need your help!

The National Autism Center’s primary goal is to improve the lives of the

estimated half a million children across the country living with autism

today.  The number of treatments for autism has skyrocketed so parents

and professionals need to know which of these treatments have been

shown to be effective.  The National Standards Project responds to

needs of families and professionals by establishing a set of national

standards outlining “best practices.”  These standards will help

families and professionals make informed treatment decisions.  Funds

are needed to widely share the Project’s results with families,

professionals, and advocates across the country and the world.  Please

see the attached document for more information on the National

Standards Project

The American Express Members Project

is an online program that enables passionate people to come together to

support innovative ideas for projects that make a difference. Last

year, the winning project received $2 million in funding to bring clean drinking

water to millions of children across the developing world.

This

year, American Express is providing $2.5 million in funding to carry

out the winning projects, based on the total votes they win in the

final round of voting:

        •           $1,500,000 for the winning project

        •           $500,000 for the 2nd place project

        •           $300,000 for the 3rd place project

        •           $100,000 each for the two remaining projects

The

National Autism Center’s National Standards Project has already been

added as an eligible project for the Members Project.  We need your

help to nominate this project so that it can be among the 25 chosen for

the next round of voting.  In this initial stage, which closes September 1st,

you do not have to be an American Express Card Holder to nominate a project.

Please follow the six simple steps below (Please Note: You need " Adobe

Flashplayer 9 " on your computer to nominate a project).

1.      Go to www.membersproject.com.  At the top right click on the box that

says that says “American Express Cardmembers, Log In "

2.      If you are already an American Express cardholder and have an online

User ID and Password, click where it says Log In, enter this information, and

you will be

taken to the Members Project web page.  Please then skip to Step 4

below.

3.      If you are not a cardholder, immediately under “American Express

Cardmembers, Log In " click where it says “Guest Members Log in”

Then scroll to the bottom of the next page and click where it says

“Guest Members sign up here”

Please fill out all

the information on the “Guest Members Sign-Up” page.  Once you have

completed the entire Guest Member Sign-Up Page successfully, you will

be taken to the Members Project web page.

4.      In the Members Project’s area there are five categories at the bottom of

the screen:

•       Arts and Culture

•       Community Development

•       Education

•       Environment and Wildlife, and

•       Health

Click on the “Health” Category and either

•       Type in “Autism Treatment Education Project” (“The” must be omitted

here) in the search bar at the top right, or

•       Scroll through the list of projects until you come to this project name

“The Autism Treatment Education Project”

Please click on the project name.

5.

Please note that organization names or brand products (like the

National Standards Project) are not included in the description, but as

long as you type in the exact

title above, and in the description it indicates the project was

submitted from “Massachusetts” you are in the right place!

At the right center of this webpage is a box that says Nominate This

Project.  Please click this box and you are done, except for one more critical

step…..

6.      To

have the opportunity to make it to the next voting round, we need you

to please forward these instructions to your associates, family and

friends and ask them to

nominate the National Autism Center and our National Standards Project.

Please check back on the Members Project website www.membersproject.com after

September 1st

to see if our project has made it to the second round.  If it has, and

you are an American Express Cardholder, please log in and vote again

during each of the next two voting rounds of:

Round 2, Top 25: September 9-September 29, 2008

Round 3, Top 5: September 30-October 13, 2008

Thank you so much for your support of this critical project!

Sincerely,

W. Wilczynski, Ph.D., BCBA

Executive Director

National Autism Center
