Guest guest
Hi There, I thought I would give you an update on my son's progress with his toilet training. My son is 10 years old and has unfortunately gotten into the habit of going into a corner somewhere to do his poos in his pull-ups. So last week we took him out of school and decided to really concentrate on getting him to sit on the toilet to do his poos. Two caregivers came around each day to take it in turns sitting with him while he was on the toilet. Today is the 7th day and has done a couple of very small poos in the toilet. We are giving lactolose each morning, lots of fluid, kiwifruit and prunes so he doesn't become constipated. He is very strong willed and it is obvious he is getting pretty desperate but he is still determined to hold it in. Although we haven't had a lot of success at this stage, I guess the good thing is that he hasn't been allowed to go and stand in a corner somewhere to do his poos so I think we are on the right track. Unfortunately I think it will take a lot longer than I thought to break his habit of standing up to do his poos, but I think he will eventually get the idea.
