Leave them in the paper bag and check every so often. They're picked green.

(obviously) - you might throw a ripe apple or tomato in there. Be sure the

bag is folded down so that the gas doesn't escape and you have as little

space in the bag as possible.

Okay Pam.

Will do. The brown bag is too small for the bananas. It's open at one end, can

I put them in a plastic zip lock bag. I have big ones.

Can I do that? If I zip the bag closed, won't the gas ripen them up?

Thanks, Melody

Get out the yellow paint?? : - )?

Seriously, though - not sure - are they USA bananas or from some other

country? Not sure that makes a diff, but I try to buy all my whole foods

only from the USA, not Chile, Mexico, Brazil, New Zealand, etc (too many

pesticides in foods from elsewhere). I guess you just need to exercise

patience - that's all I got!

I was given two bunches of bananas on Tuesday. Green bananas. Didn't know I

should put them in a paper bag so the first day I left them out, thinking

they would be ripening by the next day (wednesday), no luck. I went online,

learned what I should be doing, and put them in brown paper bags. Today is

Thursday. They are as green as the day I got them.

They are bananas by the way, not plantains.

What the heck do I do now!??

Thanks much

You could try the plastic bag Melody and see how it goes but I've never tried it

that way.  My husband chimed in and said that maybe in the plastic bag they

will ripen too fast??  Don't know.  Please let us know what happens.

Peggy:

I already posted a video of what I did with the bananas. They are in a cardboard

box, so they are in the dark, all covered and I will check on them (without

turning on any lights), tomorrow morning.

HOpefully they will be starting to turn but who knows.

I am learning lots of cool stuff.
