Guest guest
Kathy, My family physician put me on doxycycline last summer way before we knew it was my implants causing my symptoms. I was also on flexeril, neurotin, darvocet for pain, and Elimeron and Detrol La for interstitial cystitis. When symptoms seem to have no releif, he got the brilliant idea to take me off everything. He called it a "drug holiday". He wanted to see what symptoms remained. We all my symptoms remained and I refused to go back on any medications till someone gave me a diagnosis. I still refuse medications, however, I use darvocet occasionally for any unbearable pain. I haven't used it in weeks. We went to Randy's mother's house for Easter yesterday. She said I looked alot healthier since the last time she saw me, which was before explant. I guess that is what it takes. To have someone who is not around on a daily basis to see the changes. I hope you had a wonderulf Easter, L mikat828 <mikat828@...> wrote: -I applaud your doctor for being open enough to use the antibiotic therapy. Who do you go to? If the antibiotic therapy is not done right, it won't be alot of help. What other meds did he have you on? Most people who do the ap use minocin or doxycycline. That is why I wonder what the other meds were. Also, antibiotic therapy can makeyou herx and feel really bad until the herxes go away. Definitely people often feel that they are getting worse before they feel like they are getting better. I have been on the www.roadback.org site for four years and I can tell you that AP can work miracles. Approximately 66-85% of the people who use it can expect to improve--some into a permanent remission. I was tested for mycoplasma and had them. But many of the people on ap don't get tested and it still helps them. I certainly would keep it as an option. How long were you on the therapy? It usually takes several months to a couple of years to experience good improvement. I also believe that D'lenolate olive leaf extract kills myco's and other pathogens that may be responsible for our illness. So does Oil of Oregano and I have used both. Ican tell you that I herxed really strongly to the olive leaf and the herx brought the exact same symptoms that the antibiotics did. It worsened all my symptoms and I would get scared and back off of them due to the increased pains (especially headaches) and to make sure I wasn't just getting worse. Both of these supplements also kill candida. This iswhy I like to recommend them. Antibiotics can worsen candida. However, most people on the ap take probiotics and don't seem to do badly with yeast. Some of the people were on a drug cocktail of diflucan, flagyl and minocin. It packed a punch. It is hard to know what to do. I might start with one or both of the olive leaf or oil of oregano first. Also keep detoxing. Go slowly making sure not to do too many things at once. We always seem to want to hit it with everything weve got but that is often a mistake. We get in too much pain and get very depressed and discouraged and mistakenly think we are getting worse.Alot of what many of us here have done has been trial and error, because it is almost impossible to know what our exact problems are, or how to fix them. So we keep trying things that we have researched and asking God to lead us down the right paths. I really feel that believing that we are getting well is important to getting well. There is alot to be said for an unstoppable positive attitude (I fail miserably here at times--especially now with such changing hormones). Laughter and joy are not only good for the soul, they are also excellent for the immune system!Hugs, Kathy -- In , Lamse <wannabe_proverbs31@...> wrote:>> Kathy,> > My doctor did the anitbiotic therapy on me for a while thinking I had a mycroplasma. Then he thought maybe my drug cocktail was causing it. This is the same doctor that almost cried when I brought him all the implant information. Guest guest
Wow , I am glad that he took you off those meds. Neurontin is bad news and I really don't like flexerall or Detrol La and I don't know what elimeron is. All of those drugs can have major side effects. The only one that I would take is doxycycline. But I might wait to see first how things go detoxing and changing diet. I really think that Garden of Life has some really good supplements. I particularly like their primal defense and living multi. Oil of oregano liquid can be added as a few drops in water once or twice a day. I highly recommend it. I would also go on a low oxalate diet if you have interstitial cystitis. It can really help. Also I think alkalinizing your body will help tremendously. I am glad that your motherinlaw was able to see some improvements. That has to really encourage you! Guest guest
, I'm thrilled to hear you're not using all the meds any more! . . . That you haven't needed pain meds and that your mother-in-law sees a positive change in you! I know your progress isn't as fast as you'd like, but it can be a slow process. . . Your job is to stay the course until your body responds! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Thanks Rogene, My counselor thinks I am too hard on myself. I need to stop thinking of how I think my life should be and focus on rest and healing. Easier said then done. Guest guest
. . . I understand! . . . I took two years off to heal . . . I didn't have a support group to help me though. Guest guest
Hi , I've been told I look alot better post-explant as well, healthier. I noticed I looked grayish with implants. I hate even looking at pictures of myself when I had implants because all the emotional and physical pain I was in showed up in my eyes. Guest guest
Sis Just in the last week many people have told me I seem to be radiant and glowing, and boy it's been a very, very long time since I've heard any comment like that, if ever! You know, I was thinking today, isn't it a great compliment to have a man notice you - without breast implants? Sis, how did all your test results come out? Did anything show up that would be helpful? I think about you a lot and wonder how you are doing with your new busy work schedule. I would like to meet, even on a Saturday, but it seems my kids have me booked on Saturdays for a while. I am still feeling really good, and am trying not to change a thing, cause something is working. Cherie > > > > > > > > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. Guest guest
Hi Cherie, I am noticing some changes the past few weeks and hope I continue to improve. The job is going well, and I'm very happy there so far. I think the burden of worrying about money might have helped my immune system a bit. Also, since I'm trying to play catch-up regarding finances, I had some tests run but still have a urine test to send out. It's one that tests for heavy metals, I think - the test is called an " OAT Test " . Since it costs over $200 and it's iffy if insurance will pay, I had to wait a little bit before sending it out. The naturopath said when the results come back, then she and I will talk about the results of the blood work and the OAT test. Remember my theory about Spring? How I've always noticed if I suffered from something chronic over the winter, that it improved in the Spring? Maybe that is also what's helping you, along with the many changes you've made in your diet - perhaps the coming of Spring made it all come together. I'd love to get together, too. We'll eventually get there! Sis > > > > > > > > > > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. I'm 30 > > > years > > > > > old and had my saline implant since I was 18 years old. Guest guest
HI, I am really, really sorry to hear of this news. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can be very difficult to live with. However, I want you to know that some of the women on our group have also tested positive for lupus with a high ANA titre, but have been able to go into remission and not have overt symptoms that make life difficult. There are answers for you! You have to have hope that you don't have to suffer. Hope will give you a reason to fight this diagnosis. I would caution you about rheumatologists. They are drug dispensers, not hope givers. They are taught to treat lupus with drugs alone, and not address the underlying condition that allows lupus to develop in the first place. They will tell you that lupus is incurable, and that you will have to learn to live with it. That may be true. But it is also true that some people can learn to live with lupus because they are in remission and have eliminated the toxins in their body that cause the immune system to attack self. Let me ask you....since you implants were removed, have you done much in the way of detoxification? What made you remove the implants in January? Pattyjacqueline <jackiejack21@...> wrote: I had my implants taken out on January of this year. I'm 30 years old and had my saline implant since I was 18 years old. I been feeling good most of the time since I had my implants taken out. . I had went to the doctor about two weeks ago because I been just really over eatting. I would eat then 20 minute go by and I would go and eat some more. So anyways I had somw blood work done and today the nurse called me me telling me that I tested postive for Lupus. So I went to have more blood work done and I will go see my doctor in 2 weeks. The doctor ask me if my bone hurted. I said sometime in the morning when I would wake up the whole body would be hurting. Or I would feel like there was a cold metal touching my bone. When I would feel like that I thought maybe it's my bed. Or maybe it's because I cut the grass or moved my furniture around. Most of the time I'm active (there time where I couldn't get out of bed like I had no energy and I would tell my self what wrong with me but I had to for my boys). I would get up at 4:45 am to go to the gym. Because that the only time I have when I can go.I have three boys that keep me busy. A while back I read some email where some of the the women had lupus and were going th a rheumatologist. If anyone has this can you email me and let me know what to expect or some advise. I'm going to look up in internet. Thank You Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less. Guest guest
Cherie it is such good news to hear that you are still feeling good! And does'nt it feel wonderful! there is nothing better than feeling good after feeling so lousy. Iknow I appreciate health more than I ever have in my life. Not else much matters if you don't feel good enough to enjoy it. Do you think that Dr. Leu is helping you or do you think it is stuff you are doing on your own? Are you still taking Isocort? Other adrenal or thyroid supplements? I would be interested in knowing Hugs, Kathy > > > > > > > > > > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. Guest guest
Patty is right about rhuematologists - mine just wanted to put me on permanent drugs that are so toxic that my liver would have to be regularly checked. He insisted that the implants were not causing my illness, but could give me no other reason. He said he thought it was terrible that women were suing Dow, but when I told him I was having them removed anyway, he said he would be willing to reconsider his opinion if I got better. For six months, I have been patiently waiting to be able to go back and tell him, I think I am finally almost there. It has only been a few months for you, and it takes time. I believe that the implants, foreign to our bodies, caused our immune systems to go haywire. After explant, we have to strengthen our bodies and convince our immune systems that the implants are gone for good. I was very discouraged too, and I am so thankful for the women here who helped me get through it. I don't know if I am better for good, but am very encouraged right now. Please hang in there, listen to these women and their experiences, you will get better too. Prayers, Cherie > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. Guest guest
Amen, Cherie. It has been two years since I had my explant. I was terribly sick. By the time I had my explant, I had hives and went into anaphylactic shock. I was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disease, lupus and mulitple sclerosis. I could not walk across the living room without great pain. I could not sleep because of pain. I had mulitiple immune related rashes, and an itchy rash that I now know was due to systemic fungus. I could not work, and I thought I was going to die. Now, two years later, I have passed the bar exam in my state, and hope soon to practice law. I am working part time in a law firm, and am walking my dog. In fact, we are getting another puppy next week that i imagine will need walking too! These doctors do such a disservice to women, by saying these things. > > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. Guest guest
I would also like to add that for 5 years my blood tests were abnormal - my ANA was 1:320 and I tested positive for anti-smith antibody which is specific for lupus, and anti- ANA and anti-RNP. I had a blood test a few weeks ago - the first since my explant. It showed NORMAL. NEGATIVE ANA, and no other antibodies, either. I do still take plaquenil, but hope to go off it in time. I take half the amount I did a year ago. I no longer take sleeping pills since I am able to sleep again. I no longer take pain medication (except an occasional excedrin). I do not take interferon for MS, either. > > > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. I'm 30 > > years > > > old and had my saline implant since I was 18 years old. Guest guest
Cherie ... what upsets me so much is that when I got into learning about this issue nearly 11 years ago ... the Rheumies gave the idential denial treatment you received ... And now it's hardly any better. Thanks for making good, positive decisions especially when faced by medical ignorance. Guest guest
Molly, I was so glad to see a post from you - it's been a while I think. I had the sleep problems too, but thankfully am sleeping well right now. I LOVE walking my dog, and has been part of my therapy too. Do you know what kind of puppy you are getting? Guest guest
Cherie Walking your dog is very therapeutic! I walked my smoky every single day for in the nice weather on our trail. It was the best thing I ever did for my spirits and to keep me exercising. I was so close to him and miss him so much. I just got a puppy two three weeks ago and I can't wait until he is big enough to walk on a leash and go out on the trail! I hope your weather is nice right now. Ours is amazingly beautiful and everything is in bloom! Hugs,Kathy > > > > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. Guest guest
Kathy I know what you mean - not only the walking part of it, but my dog is therapeutic! He's so loveable and ALWAYS brings a smile to my face, no matter how I'm feeling. He is my 11-pound giant named Goliath! He may be small, but he keeps up with my brisk walking sometimes three miles at a time. Congrats on your new puppy! Cherie > > > > > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. Guest guest
Molly, that is spectacular news that your ANA is negative and no antibodies....NORMAL!! Woo hoo! That's what we want to hear! It's great news for those facing postive ANA results, just knowing that it is possible to get those numbers back to normal. I love hearing news like that. You've given alot of women hope today. Guest guest
Thanks cherie They are adorable aren't they? There were many many times that my smoky brought me out of my depression. Whenever I would cry he would immediately run to me and try to cover my face with kisses. My new puppy is very attached me and very silly--always something to laugh at! I think pets are very therapeutic would like to alot more of them in nursing homes, etc. Hugs, Kathy > > > > > > I had my implants taken out on January of this year. Guest guest
Hi Matt, I'm glad that you're going to try to convince your friend NOT to get implants. What I wouldn't have done for a friend like you a year and a half ago, before I got implants. My problems with implants started almost immediately after getting them. A week after getting implants I started having digestive disturbances, followed by painful lymph nodes, anxiety and fatigue. About a month after getting implants, one of the veins in my finger suddenly became painful and swollen, and then it bled under the skin. My finger became black and blue, and the joint in that finger was sore. Within a few days, the joints in my thumbs started swelling. Next came what we call brain fog, which is an inability to concentrate, and a dizzy feeling. Putting sentences together suddenly became a chore. About a month later, my fingers and toes became numb and sore, and the bones in my fingers and toes hurt. It felt like someone was driving nails into my toenails. At the same time, I had throbbing in my left temple, and my blood pressure went from normal to high. I had anxiety attacks alot, and I never had them before. I ran fevers every day, too. I lost 10 lbs, and I didn't need to. I only slept about 3 hours each night. I had my implants removed six months after having them implanted, and the surgeries cost me about $14,000 in 6 months time. Those costs don't count the money I spent in doctor bills, psychologist visits, tests, physical therapy (my neck started becoming sore, too), chiropractors, prescriptions, etc. I was traumatized by having these horrible things implanted, and every day I cried, and said " I just want them out of my body " . Aside from being physically ill, I hated the way they felt, and looked, and I had to sleep with pillows propped under my arm because the implants caused soreness in the night while I slept. I looked around at small breasted women and thought how beautiful they looked, and I couldn't stand my fake ones. Funny how plastic surgeons don't tell you " you'll be deformed if you ever want them removed " during your initial consult, but they are quick to tell you that you'll be deformed once you have them and ask about having them removed. I'm lucky because after I had my explant, I looked almost exactly like I looked before (it took about 4 to 6 months, though). When I lift my arms, I can see my scars, but I consider them battle scars - and I consider them the biggest lesson I've ever learned in my life. Don't mess with nature. Yes, if I have to I'll take antibiotics, and I'll cover the gray hair, and put makeup on, but if I can't resolve any issues I have with my body by exercising or eating well on a normal basis, then I'm going to accept my external flaws while concentrating on my internal beauty. Guest guest
That isn't the first time some idiot plastic surgeon took it upon himself to decide what was good for a woman, without her consent. SIgh. You can see my opinion of most plastic surgeons is in the basement. Matt, my husband is every bit as adamant as you are about implants after watching me go through hell. Thankfully, he now has his wife back. It's like we are starting life over... it's incredible. My health has improved so much since I had my 20 year old ruptured double lumen (saline and silicone) removed. > > Hei everyone. Im not a female but am here because Shari Halverson sent > me here.
