Guest guest
Back on the mainland for good is a good feeling !! Effectiveness is increased when it's a hop skip and a jump to that next non complying district or to Lobby in any state or in D.C. for the Civil Rights of our children. I've also made a new forum to add to your lists... not a replacement of any means of the excellent forum you have here but a place where I have high hopes all will be able to voice their opinions or share information on any topic related to disability without censorship. Below is the 'description' . I want to emphasize this is not a replacement of any group or a place to leave your home group here, but a place in which multiple opinions or factual information can be shared among all with varying thoughts on just about anything. I encourage all to consider this and to stay put in your home groups. E. , Sr. Nationwide Spec. Ed. Advocate/Adviser The Office of Special Education Advocacy, Inc. " O.S.E.A. Disabled* This group is to unite EVERYONE on the common ground that reform must continually take place for those with disabilities in all area's. Parents, adults with disabilities, and others are invited to join this group and talk on ANY topic from Education to Services for adults and more. There will be NO censorship of postings or group members-those that wish to make the list a place to argue verses give constructive input will be moderated. This is an open group discussion for anything from opinions to scientific or other facts presented. We ALL have a common ground to stand upon and must do so and UNITE to be heard as one big voice. Attempts to unite parents only is unfair to those that are adults and have not worked. Attempts to keep a list to one topic as well has been unfair and has not worked. For those seeking advocacy feel free to share information to others within the rules. Whether it's a problem in school that needs advocacy help or a problem for an adult that needs help or just plain sharing of information.... this listserv has been made for exactly this. If you feel that someone is wrong please bring it to a moderators attention although I must state that we will go mostly non moderated except to maintain order. We all believe in different 'reasons' why we or our children have disabilities, this should not stop us from sharing all information whether I believe in it or not.. or others believe in it or not. Let's make an attempt to unite and allow all to share their beliefs and idea's or to just come on and vent if need be. We should all be supporting each other in every way possible. As a parent I have high hopes for my child and one of the only things I will not tolerate is attacks upon our community of those with A.S.D. or with any other disability - ok lets Unite! Guest guest
I really hope many of you will join this group. It just started and I couldn't sign up fast enough. We need to change the system and give our children the Civil Rights they deserve. This is the way to get things done. Or a day in April (autism awareness month) were marched and gathering are held all over the country to protest the mistreatment of our children. It up to the parents to fight for their rights. We are in large numbers now and I believe that we can make a difference. I have nothing to do with the creating of this group but I know if we all work hard enough we can create change. I also think we need to do something in April that will be seen by many ( McCarthy excluded). Sorry, I don't care for her statement that her son was cured and he no longer has autism. Like her as a person but not pleased about her statements regarding autism. On Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 6:54 AM, Peace4kids <peace4kids@...> wrote: Back on the mainland for good is a good feeling !!
