Guest guest
There's a couple of conferences happening this summer that those who are interested in Direct instruction (aka, " DI " ) or learning about DI might want to take a look at. Both are presented by the Association for Direct Instruction, the folks who designed and field-tested these programs. The first is the inauguration of a special conference focussing on students with autism spectrum disorders, and giving workshops on programs such as Reading Mastery, Language for Learning, Distar Arithmetic, etc. Effective Programs for Learners With Autism Spectrum Disorders—A Direct Instruction Conference, Columbus, Ohio August 16th-18th, 2010 This is the National Conference, which has presentations and trainings on a wide variety of curricula and topics. 36th National Direct Instruction Conference And Institutes, Eugene, Oregon July 25–29, 2010 I did a blog post on the conferences, which is somewhat a replication of the contents, although I also have a little video of Zig Engelmann posted and links to online DI resource which might have some intro to the DI packages if this is completely new.
