Guest guest
I think Katy has a great idea here...........may I suggest Dave, that you might even want to tip the person who does the lifting or if it's a young person after a few weeks of lifting, treat them and a couple of their friend's to pizza and coke. A young person can never get too much pizza............hehe I should know. ) Ann Katy Sinclair wrote: > From: Katy Sinclair <katy.sinclair@...> > > Dear , > Here in NZ, it would be a simple matter of asking a jr/sr high school child > in your neighborhood to lift your scooter into your vehicle in the morning > and asking a work mate to lift it in the evening. Guest guest
Dear , Here in NZ, it would be a simple matter of asking a jr/sr high school child in your neighborhood to lift your scooter into your vehicle in the morning and asking a work mate to lift it in the evening. I hope it is the same there!!!! I appreciate that independence is important...but I also know some people would WANT their child to help you! Katy Hello all, I recently had back surgery and hope to go back to work end of next month. Here's my problem, I have to use a Kitchen cart to get in and out and around work. My problem is that I do not have the strength to lift it off the ground to get it into the trunk or back seat. Has anyone else ever had this problem and if so what was your solution? I don't think that a full wheelchair lift is necessary and am looking for ideas. I drive a Nissan Sentra and is has a low trunk and is spacious. I would appreciate anyones thoughts or ideas. Guest guest
Hi Have you considered giving the enzymes with all meals and snacks? That is when my son started showing the big improvements. I don't know if you would see big gains or not with more enzymes, but only giving the enzymes part of the day means the possibility that some foods are not being digested properly and being absorbed into your child's system. You can consider a two-week trial run of giving the enzymes with all meals and snacks to see if that would help. > My 7 yr old has an autism spectrum disorder. Guest guest
felt the same way when Jenna graduated. They surprised me and graduated her early. I was unprepared. I ended up writing a long letter to ette and Lydia thanking them for everything they did for Jenna and our family. They became our friends not just Jenna's orthotist. I also took my camera in and took pictures of Jenna with them for her babybook. I brought the latest picture of Jenna in and said we wanted to start their graduation bulletin board. They were thrilled. I felt the letter was something personal and let them know how thankful I was. Guest guest
Angie, I think you may be right. CT-Oakbrook had Christmas cards of graduated children posted in the office. They seemed very please to get them and know they made a positive change in a child and their family's lives. Guest guest
Hey Dustie, That is awesome news that may be ready to graduate already! Boy has that time flown by! I think its really sweet of you to want to give a thank you gift to show how much you appreciate all that your ortho has done. I made our ortho a topiary in a color scheme that matched his office (Janine, you'll have to let me know if he actually has it up!) I'll attach a pic of one similar to it that I made for my home...let me just say that I think my little crush on my ortho may have clouded my judgement...but hey, at least I had fun making it! Guest guest
Good afternoon, I also made a shirt for the curved spine. Mine was done silkscreen and I used little dog biscuits over the top of one another in the shape of a spine.....naturally mine had a big curve in it then I used a red circle with a slash through it repersenting international signes of "no". So there was a curved spine and a circle with a slash through it representing no curved spine. I did this one day for a follow up appointment after surgery..... all seemed to enjoy and like it. I also had written no curves, thanks to Dr. Bob! I told him I would have included his last name if he had success getting all oif the curve out! LOL The team teally did a great job; my curve in the lumbar area was 84 degrees and after surgery it was 10 degrees. Well Folks that is my contribution for the day ~~~~ From: dyanndiamond <dyanndiamond@...>Subject: [ ] Need Ideas Date: Monday, October 26, 2009, 2:26 PM Hello All,I'm putting together my Costume for my Husband's Halloween office party. Most of his co-workers know about my surgery. I'm going to make a T-shirt with the following messages (see link):http://groups. / group/Flatback_ Revised/photos/ album/168626258/ pic/474479346/ viewI'm going to add a construction Hat and belt as well as a hammer and chisel. I'm happy with the back, but the front needs something else. I'm afraid someone might think I'm getting a boob-job. Idea # 1: in the diamond: "CAUTION: SPINE ZONE AHEAD" and in a rectangle underneath: RECONSTRUCTION NEXT 4 VERTEBRAE. (too literal?)I'm close but think there might be something better. Guest guest
Hi, How about " Slow...Reconstruction Ahead " . You could wear scrubs with a surgeons cap and mask. Haven't posted yet but my reconstruction surgeries are with Dr Bridwell Dec 8 & 10. Next appointment is Nov 6th after a myelogram on Nov 5th. We'll finalize the plan at that time. Guest guest
Annette, I have a myelogram at 10am on Thursday (5th) & then Dr B is at 9am Friday. It will be my 2nd myelogram...they're not too bad. There are worse tests unfortunately. I'll be flying in from Portland, Oregon on Wednesday afternoon with my husband Doug. Haven't made a hotel reservation. Does anybody know someplace decent for a reasonable price? The Parkplace Hotel (?) only offers a $30 discount for patients. Where do you live and what time is your appointment? This is my 2nd appointment and I'm hoping to get some more definite information. Would love to meet you. > > > > > > > > > > Hello All, > > > > > I'm putting together my Costume for my Husband's Halloween office party. Guest guest
My husband and I live in Laingsburg, Michigan. We will be flying into St. Louis on Thursday. My appointment is Friday at 9:30 a.m., must be right after yours. We are staying at the Days Inn, it looked nice and they have a inside pool. The price was only $55.00 a night if you stayed 3 nights. According to Mapquest it is about 10 minutes from his office. We are going to rent a car and do some sight seeing. We then will be leaving on Sunday. Let me know if you will have time when you are there to meet. Feel free to e-mail me so we can swap phone numbers, amile57@.... I hope your appointments go well. Guest guest
I am working with a 50ish autistic woman with an eating disorder. She eats everything! Years of being prevented from grabbing food have taught her to eat anything as fast as she can. She gulps down everything as fast as she can. AS a result, she has had several episodes of choking. All we have done so far is to have staff prompt her to slow down. But I would like to teach her to eat more slowly. I can't figure out how to accomplish this. Food is her only reinforcer and I have to let her eat her whole dinner, regardless of her behavior. Any ideas? R
Guest guest
Condition her to eat more slowly. Only give her more food when she eats more slowly, (measuring as much, and bringing that to her attention or awareness, as best you can?) differentially reinforcing towards that behavior by as much, as simple as your situation would seem to be to facilitate that, with one-on-one supervision/ instruction, of course, as needed. It could take some time as you are seeming to have to deal with some entrenched conditioning, especially with regard to unwitting intermittent reinforcement, (of things having gone willy nilly?) which you will also have to work into the program, to counter as much and to be optimizing what you could be doing with ABA, would be my sense of what would be worth trying..
