Guest guest
Peggy: THANK YOU I have printed out what you wrote. That will be my guide. Now if EW can answer the rest of my questions, I shall be on the road to making sunflower sprouts. I have to find where I'm buying the coir. There are florists around my neighborhood. Tomorrow I shall see if they sell Coir. If not, I'll go online. And you must check out the I took of Alan. I cannot stop laughing. Melody > > > > > > > > , I would go directly to sunflower sprouts grown as microgreens. It is EASY. All you need are the seeds, a growing medium such as coir or soil, and a growing vessel. It's very easy to grow in glass or pyrex pie plates. Guest guest
Great! However, I suggest you eat them before they get 6 feet high ew Re: Begining ???'s (sprouts for salad) EW: I told Alan I was going to start growing Sunflower Sprouts. Guest guest
To find coir check your local nursery. Many of them sell it now. It's getting to be quite popular. A lot o seed catalogs list them. Also, check your yellow pages for a store that seeds hydroponic equipment. That's were I first got mine before it was in the local nursery. Try the store you first thought was a seed company, right there in Brooklyn ew Re: Begining ???'s (sprouts for salad) Peggy: THANK YOU I have printed out what you wrote. That will be my guide. Guest guest
Hi I'm still a beginner. I started with buying wwww.handypantry.com Basic Sprouting kit. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the 3 garden salad, alfalfa. I also love their Cruncy Lentil Fest. I just recently posted I ran out of fresh produce so for my green smoothie (have one every morning).. I added the 3 garden and alfalfa along with my fruits, etc I do both I add the 3 garden and alfalfa to regular salads and I will have the 3 garden just by itself... I have the lentil cruch as a snack and add it to various items I love www.handypantry.com as they give suggestions on the front label (soups, salads, etc) As to quantities it is just my husband and I... but there are times we go through the full 3 trays of the handypantry in a few days... and then other times where we are not as quick eating it. I also use sproutpeople.org sprouters... I do use them in my smoothies, salads, etc.. I love the sampler but I personally would suggest the 3 garden salad, alfalfa... and then depending upon your needs/wants start looking at beans, nuts, etc... Not sure if I helped or not but there has only been time any sprouts were thrown out and that was when we were not eating at home for various reasons.. I have given the 3 garden sprouts and alfalfa to friends and they LOVE them and want some so I give them baggies of sprouts...
