Guest guest
Come on, Melody. Why would they sell seeds when they can sell the sprouts? Might cut into sprout sales and more money in sprouts. Ann > ** > > > Here's a good one for you. Guest guest
H EW: Yeah, I know about the bulk seeds but I want alfalfa, radish and broccoli seeds. Around here every single store sells mung beans. I already have organic chia, and flax. So I need to find either a health food store that might sell a known brand. Like for example, let's say I find a health store and they sell packages of Sprouthouse brocoli seeds or Sproutpeople broccoli seeds (or anything from those guys), or maybe some healh food store might sell Wheatgrass kits packages of seeds. Do you think this might be a possibility, or am I just whistling dixie? lol Melody > > Mel, > > Some Whole Foods do not sell seeds for sprouting, but they have a large bulk food aisle where you can buy lots of seeds to sprout. You can get mung beans, sunflower, chia, flax, among others Also, most health food stores carry seeds for sprouting. I can get fenugreek and flax seeds locally. > > ew > > Where can I locate a store that sells sprouting seeds? > > Here's a good one for you. Guest guest
Really? I am now going to re-define my searching parameters and look for Organic seeds to make flour or some such description because I'm not having any luck find what I want to find. Guest guest
Why? I'll tell you why. When I first moved in my home, I found a store about 10 blocks away. It was an organic health food store (this was BEFORE I started sprouting. They did not sell sprouting supplies but they sold everything organic as well as seeds. They had flax seeds, buckwheat seeds, (and sure they sold sprouts), but there was a place in the store where they sold SEEDS), in packaging. Since I had no idea what these were, I never bought them. And they sold big packages of Exekiel breads and all things organic and everything that I would now use. I could kick myself because back then I had no idea the value of this store. No one bought from them and they went out of business in one year. Talk about bad timing. I have to go and look for a similar store. lol Melody > > > ** > > > > > > Here's a good one for you. Guest guest
Melody, You might want to check local stores that carry raw vegan products. Here's a link from the Pretty Smart Raw Food Ideas blog. http://prettysmartrawfoodideas.wordpress.com/manhattan-organic-markets-r\ aw-food-stores/ <http://prettysmartrawfoodideas.wordpress.com/manhattan-organic-markets-\ raw-food-stores/> You can also try http://www.live-live.com/ <http://www.live-live.com/> I've only been to NY a couple of times, so I'm more familiar with online stores. > > > > > ** > > > > > > > > > Here's a good one for you. Guest guest
Could you make a video of you whistling dixie? As far as I know, Handy Pantry is the only company that puts package seeds into retail stores. Some Whole Foods used to have them, but people need to be educated about the benefits of sprouts. I was in contact with a woman from a garden club that I spoke to four years ago. She said that she bought a FreshLife sprouter, but she didn't have enough room on her kitchen counter for it, so she doesn't use it anymore. We talked about alternatives, but I got the feeling that her real problem was laziness. She said she wasn't aware if anyone in her club was sprouting. So what else can I do. I have sent many people home from my house with seeds and knowledge about sprouting, but none follow thru past the first batch. I gave my kids EasySprout sprouters, but that was pretty much a waste of my money. My oldest daughter does sprout some. I visited my oldest son last year in Oregon, and he put some seeds in his to impress me. He then ignored them and they were bad when I arrived. What more can we do? ew Re: Where can I locate a store that sells sprouting seeds? H EW: Yeah, I know about the bulk seeds but I want alfalfa, radish and broccoli seeds. Guest guest
Well, how can I say THANK YOU. There might even be one a few blocks from the CBS building where Alan and I go for monthly Neuropathy Support Group meetings. Wouldn't it be cool, if next month, I take a walk and find myself in a health food place and I'm surrounded by sprouting seeds. You KNOW I'll make a video. Can't wait to see if this is feasible. And thank you very much for the info Melody
Guest guest
I was surprised to find packages of Mumm's seeds at a health food store in land. From what I remember, they only had broccoli, alfalfa and one mix. The same store also had broccoli seeds in the bulk section with the loose spices. I bought a package of the Mumm's seeds to make sure I did not run out before my next sproutpeople order. > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi. I've never had Dulce. What is the benefit of Dulce over the seaweed (roasted snack), that I am now putting in my sprout salad? Thanks much Melody
Guest guest
There are tons of varieties of sea weeds-each with different tastes, but largely the same nutrients. Dulse, arama, wakama, hijiki, laver, bladderwrack, etc. Any good health food store should have a few varieties-they make an amazing vegan broth base for noodles, mushrooms, veggies, etc. One of my daughter's favorite vegan dishes is a ramen type rice noodle and veggies in sea weed broth. Guest guest
Dulse is delicious and really healthy for you. also, most of the seaweed that is processed has been cooked with oil, its just a personal thing and I like to support local farmers. Guest guest
Mel, This looks like a nursery. The seeds they have are in packages, not bulk. But you might find it a fun place to visit. ew Re: Where can I locate a store that sells sprouting seeds? Well, look what Melody just found (handy pantry gave me the name). Guest guest
And EW IS RIGHT AGAIN!!! I phoned them all excited and I said " Hi, I'm a sprouter (can you imagine me saying this?). And I'm going on and on about what I sprout and then I said " Do you sell organic sprouting seeds, not the sprouts but the seeds? " And he says " Let me go check " , and he comes back and says " Yup, they are definitely organic, and we have alfalfa, fenugreek, broccoli (by this time I was salivating over the phone), and then I said : " And do you sell them in the 1 lb and 5 lb quantities? " and he goes: 'Oh, no, we sell little packets " ROFL. Hey, I tried. Melody > > Mel, > > This looks like a nursery. Guest guest
Bonnie, thank you. This looks to be the best seaweed in a lifetime of looking for the best seaweed! I just ordered a Family Pack (I go through almost as much seaweed as I do sprouts...).
