Guest guest
Thanks was very helpful! I have only been washing in hot/soapy water a few I put in dishwasher but I put the handypantry sprouters they got a little wonky (but still usable). I don't think I even used the sanitize cycle. I do have auto-immune disorders and a few friends jokingly used to say to me that they wanted to put me in a plastic or latex bubble (I would remind them I was sensitive to Latex and they would really start laughing!)...LOL Debbie in NJ > > 1) everyone NEEDS germs around them or their immune system begins to fail -- 99% of all the stuff you THINK is around you kitchen isn't harmful. Even the stuff that the FDA says is harmful, isn't in the quantities you find it if you are simply 'clean' in your work area. You don't believe the FDA in many things, why, all of a sudden do you believe them when they tell you about microorganisms? -- because they scare you and you can't see them. So when it comes to 'health' you don't belive them, but when it comes from 'hygene' you do? Seems strange. Your body NEEDS small amounts of germs on a daily basis to stay as healty and it can be -- and unless you DO have an auto-immune disease, being exposes to even 'dangerous' germs in tiny amounts over time will keep you FAR more healthy than living in a sertile bubble. > > 2) so you want 'clean' or 'sterile'? Use 'extended wash' and 'a sani-rinse if you don't have a plastic/nylon set. If you do, the 'sani' mode will produce enough heat to warp your plastic. >
Guest guest
I agree that we all need germs to keep healthy, but I choose not to get them from my kitchen. I figure I pick up plenty while out and about in the world, so I am all over keeping my kitchen stuff as sterile as possible-but again, I DO have auto immune issues, so it is just a matter of choosing my battles. There is enough food borne illness going around without me risking it from my own house, lol! I grow and keep my own seeds, but I am as meticulous about keeping those as sterile as possible as I would be if I were buying from elsewhere. Not worth the risk to me. > > > > 1) everyone NEEDS germs around them or their immune system begins to fail -- 99% of all the stuff you THINK is around you kitchen isn't harmful.
