The Course:

You'll get an introduction to the neuroanatomical findings in

children with pervasive developmental disorders. Basic functional

neuroanatomy will be discussed and research related to brain-behavior

relationships will be emphasized. Specific attention will be given to

the relationship between neurological differences in children with PDD

from normally developing children. In addition, attendees will learn

practical evidenced-based assessment and intervention techniques for

working with children with autism. Experimental and unproven methods

will be discussed. There will be specific emphasis on best-practices for

assessment and intervention.

This course is designed for the following audiences: Occupational

Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Speech and Language

Therapists, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Teachers,

Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses, Behavior Analysts, Parents, other

Health Professionals.

The course has an intermediate educational level with no prerequisites

and will consist of lectures, group interaction and a question and

answer session.

The Instructors:

Dodzik, PsyD, ABPdN, ABN

Dodzik, PsyD, ABPdN, ABN is a board-certified pediatric

neuropsychologist at North Shore Pediatric Therapy. He is an Associate

Professor of Medicine at Indiana University Medical Center. His

interests include assessment and treatment of children with autism,

Asperger's syndrome, LD, ADHD and children with complex medical

conditions including TBI, epilepsy and other neurodevelopmental

disorders. Dr. Dodzik has published and presented nationally on topics

related to the assessment and treatment of children with autism.

W. Phelan, Ph.D.

A registered clinical psychologist, W. Phelan, Ph.D. has worked

with children, adults and families for over 30 years. He is a member of

the American Psychological Association and the Illinois Psychological

Association. Dr. Phelan is the author of numerous books, DVDs and

audios including 1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12 and

" I Never Get ANYTHING! " How to Keep Your Kids from Running Your

Life.
