Dr. Partington's consultants will be presenting various workshops on teaching children with autism. These workshops are designed to provide effective strategies to professionals, parents and specialists working with these children. Participants will gain knowledge on many different topics including how to teach skills in the natural environment, how to shape behavior, and the skills needed for an inclusive placement. Participants will learn about discrete trial, task analysis, motivational variables and various prompt methods including fading, errorless learning, and shaping. q Friday, July 23, 2010: Developing Successful Learning and Social Interactions in the Inclusion Classroom Presenter: Nissa Intarachote, MA, BCBA Cost: $90.00 per person This presentation will teach parents and educators effective strategies to develop advanced language skills with the emphasis on teaching the child to attend to the actions and interests of others. It will also provide information about elements that are necessary for a child to use these skills to learn new skills in an inclusive classroom, and will review the components necessary for successful inclusion in a regular education classroom. q Saturday, July 24, 2010: Solutions to Challenging Tasks! A Framework for Classroom and Home Program Management from Start to Finish Presenter: Holli Henningsen, MA, BCBA Cost: $90.00 per person This workshop is designed for parents and educators who are struggling to start up and manage an ABA program in the classroom or home. Participants will be able to locate resources to guide them, learn how to get started with a classroom and home program, specify essential information to be included in a program binder, and how to manage a data collection system. q Saturday, July 31, 2010: The Power of Positive Facilitation (for Teacher's Assistants, Aides, Parents, and Caregivers) Presenter: Holli Henningsen, MA, BCBA Cost: $90.00 per person This workshop is for tutors, classroom aides, educators, parents, and family members interacting with children with autism on a regular basis. Participants will be able to identify Autism Spectrum Disorders, specify elements to motivate learners, identify teaching procedures to shape behaviors, and learn how to teach in the natural environment. q Tuesday through Thursday, August 3-5, 2010: Three Day Teaching Language to Children with Autism or Other Developmental Disabilities Presenter: Holli Henningsen, MA, BCBA, and Brown Cost: $225.00 per person This workshop is designed for parents, educators, tutors, and aides working with children with autism in an ABA and/or verbal behavior program.
